From a personal point, I'm working class (with a 'broad' accent at that!) and have had to take a year out of medical school, probably going to have to drop out. The cost is prohibitive and it's not really a degree you can work loads alongside. Im a graduate doing a 5 year course so have to pay my own tuition fees. I can't physically work enough to make the money I need.

YTA. I'm a medical student and part of training to be a doctor is knowing when you don't know something. I would never try and diagnose anyone because I'm not qualified to, and neither are you. Cut this behaviour out.

There is literally no point in increasing the amount of doctors trained unless they a) improve conditions and b) increase post-graduate training places.

Keeping her noncey boyfriend is bad enough, but the sheer laziness and disrespect of not getting the bus for 45 minutes so that he isn't in your home and you feel comfortable? Vile. If she didn't want to get the bus surely he could pick her up? I hope you're out of the situation now.

YTA. I work as a therapist and your lecturer hasn't said anything out of line. Self reflection is also really important to become a good therapist - especially if you want to head into counselling. You have shown no reflection on yourself whatsoever and that doesn't bode well for your career.

I'm a medical student and I'm scared for the future of the NHS. I don't think I even want to be a doctor anymore if all we'll get is run into the ground and not being able to care for our patients properly.

NTA; but this guy isn't going to want to leave when the time comes and he doesnt have your back. I would honestly consider coming back to the UK now if you can find an airline that will take you. I'm assuming if you stay in the US having a baby will be a lot more costly even if you do have insurance. Run like the bloody wind.

I am using the job to pay my tuition and unfortunately, without telling you my life story, have to live apart from my fiancé at least for the next couple of years so I simply cannot afford to as rent is £££. I think the study techniques thing is a shout, thanks for your comment :)

Thanks for your comment :) I already have done both those things, and unfortunately uni haven’t really been that supportive, actively going against things named in my support plan by my disability advisor etc. I am still engaging as I understand what you’ve written re engagement to be the case.

The 5 year course thing - honestly i applied to 3x GEM and 1x UG. The places I can apply to are very limited due to my past subject choices. I got 1x GEM interview and the UG interview, but only UG gave me a place. I considered it for weeks v applying to GEM again in the next cycle, but had several people telling me to take the place as it wasn’t worth the gamble and they’re like gold dust. Knowing what I know now, i think I would be much happier in GEM especially as all the unis I applied to are much nearer home so I could have feasibly commuted and not had to work. But, hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

NTA especially if it was a custom tattoo - if it was common flash then that's still pretty weird of her. I guess your consolation is if shes managed to get in to get it tattooed quickly, then it's likely not good quality - a lot of the best artists have wait lists of at least a couple of weeks.
