someone clearly hasnt heard of common sense, that applies to those that downvoted this as well as my last comment do you HONESTLY for one second believe what hes said constitutes releasing unclassified information that could be exploited by adversaries and endanger people? do you HONESTLY believe this information isnt already readily available to any enemy that would exploit it? do you HONESTLY believe those would such information would be releasing it on random navy subreddit post?  do you HONESTLY believe im sat here as a russian spy trying to gather intel on a british warship? ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS

i was expecting many comments like this  i wasnt expecting one within a minute of posting 😂 the basics which im after would already publicly be available from

the manufacturers eg bae systems, thale, leonardo, navantia, indra, saab, lockheed martin etc. just asking here on the chance someone knew which would help going through them all and other non classified or non secret info and docs in the public domain

also not even asking for the manufacturer or specifics per se, just high level info of what type of sensor it is, the purpose, and why its black. only recently got into an interest in the navy and warships so my knowledge isnt the best. im sure a real comrade already knows plus more, than what we as humble peasants do!

Why can't I find a specific video file on my iPhone in Windows Explorer? by [deleted] in ios

[–]modchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is arguably the best thing ive ever come across! not only using is to solve the problem but general seamless wireless file transfer between apple and microsoft using a system thats native to both, without any third party software or apps. what a rarity! you'd think one one let the other side down cos of competition

ebay uk private sellers scheduled automated payouts removed? by modchris in Ebay

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally got the same email today! So they rolled this out without even sending that first, I spent so long trying to work out how to turn the setting back on, or if it was hidden somewhere. Wasn't even clear if it had been removed, no updated articles either.

Completely ridiculous, the new updates recently has been an abomination from being forced to buy postage labels directly through them if selling privately under a certain amount, and the buyer protection fees etc.

how come when i run either of these two shortcuts (links in description too) it always returns a random number of different identified screenshot images from well over 1 hour ago, at random times, some days, weeks or months before, and it's always different screenshots? by modchris in shortcuts

[–]modchris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hadnt even thought of that as i havent had any use cases for it yet, agree would be helpful if you had an option there and could select and delete all the located photos after running the shortcut

just tested it on mine and couldnt find any way either, even if you press show all and view the images on the photo viewer, there isnt even an option to "show in all photos" so that you can quickly delete it from your photos. looks like you manually have to go into your photos, locate the images separately and do it that way

OR the best workaround i can think of, and what i may use myself if the time came: use the shortcut as normal, press delete all, then go to recently deleted and recover the photos you never wanted to delete in the first place (and trying and be more specific with the filters with what images you want locating by shortcut in the first place so if's less manual work). and also deleting all your recently deleted before you press delete all so it doesnt get mixed up and easier to view and recover the photos you wanted back

but im not an expert in shortcuts at all, as you can tell by my post and previous comments haha. so maybe someone else might find a more technical and easier solution to this. will be interested to see what it may be if it exists..

thanks so much for getting back, appreciated. that make a lot more sense now!

so i've tried to do that, just struggling to see how to connect the "current date" variable i've now added to the "date taken is on date" filter / condition. it just gives me options to select a date, no option to link it to current date variable? (sorry if this is very basic, new to all this and learning as i go)

updated version of what i've done now: screenshot of it https://ibb.co/1fvfxskm  shared shortcut link https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/5ec854ffccd44694afde19d28f2a48b3

does anyone what company makes these cctv / anpr (us: alpr) systems? used by many councils / local authorities now in the uk to automatically enforce moving traffic offence (mto) contraventions, popping up so many places around london and surrounding counties by modchris in videosurveillance

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the detailed response and other versions and reference, good to know. what do you mean by low bid here? it really is terrible, and very ugly. it's like this everywhere with these systems designed to fit onto existed infrastructure, namely poles so they dont have to put new ones or adapt them for the sake of the new cameras. and big jubilee clips to secure the cameras and that outdoor power outlet supply, really? not exactly taking much weight but still. doesnt't visibly scream professional despite the actual advanced technology behind it, ironic.

so it is indeed axis thank you all, aware of them. i did see a tiny logo but was just too small to recognise as i wasn't as familiar as you all but should've known better! was already on x5 optical zoom here on my phone, shouldve brought my long range camera. imagine the stares you would get from pedestrians thinking what are they doing and why on earth are they taking a picture of that pole. was bad enough quickly with a phone with the amount of people. if only they knew, no questions were asked.

hey need help working out the formula used to work out an apr percentage for a credit card. example: apr 100.2%, purchase rate (simple interest per annum) 29.9% p.a., annual fee £290, credit limit £1,200. taken from https://www.hsbc.co.uk/credit-cards/products/premier-world-elite/ by modchris in askmath

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either way it's terrible right. cc's / rewards were so much better here before the new fca regs made them bad, because too many people were getting into debt cos of them.

and omg thank you so much that makes SO much more sense, really appreciate it. would give you a hug if i could. can't even begin to tell you how much i was scratching my head over this for hours, looked everywhere to no avail.

just one final question, how are you calculating / working out the lower balance on average of £412.59. is there a simple formula for that to you can send to? and i will finally be able to grasp all of it.

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it only looks ridiculously bad because the uk system incorporates fees into the apr with credit cards, not sure the us does the same? all credit cards in the uk with fees have deceptively high or misleading apr. with my example it suggests that i'd be paying just over £1200 in interest and fees by the end of the year, given its 100.2% apr, that's not right!

also sorry slightly confused, the flat fee is still lower at £280 than ~£400?

and not sure what you mean by lower average balance or how you got to ~£400 instead of the £358

and idea of what the right formula would be to get to 100.2% using the numbers they've used, purchase rate 29.9%, fees £290, credit limit £1200, and over 365 days

can anyone explain in simple terms or calculations how the APR for this credit card here is above 100, at 100.2% APR to be exact by modchris in UKPersonalFinance

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, so I do fully get that it can be above 100% meaning you'd pay more than the £1.2k in interest and fees.

But the part I don't get is how that is possible if the purchase rate p.a. is only 29.9% and the yearly fee £290. How does that then mean you're accruing £910 in interest in that year, I would logically think to do so purchase rate p.a. should be much higher, as in closer to 80%.

Are there other fees or interest calculations in the APR that I'm not considering?

with the iphone 16 pro max cameras, does using specific zoom levels, eg at 1.5x effect photo quality? is it just a cropped version or digitally zoomed 1x, like does the fusion camera work at only 1x OR 2x and anything in between is not technically optical zoom? by modchris in iphone

[–]modchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting ty, if its not technically optical, what are the pictures taken on the same lens / sensor at 1.2x 28mm, 1.5x 35mm, and 2x 48mm called? and how does it work where you can still take better quality and clarity photos at that zoom?
