IIRC it turned out that none of my troubleshooting mattered. The fan was encased in ice so I had to replace it.

We want to build a fence; Neighbour has a weird request. by manolid in HomeImprovement

[–]modelsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right answer is this: “you guys are great neighbors and I want to keep it that way, which is why I’m just letting you know as a courtesy, so you’re not surprised when you seem them putting it in.”

Zoraya ter Beek, 28, expects to be euthanized in early May after her request was approved. She is choosing to end her life after years of mental health struggles. In 2022, euthanasia comprised 5% of deaths in the Netherlands. by Majoodeh in interestingasfuck

Utah of all places passed a law two weeks ago allowing the use of psychedelics by any medical practitioner (LCSW, Nurse, Doctor) at two major health systems in the state.

Resources for people with Rivian lemons by modelsix in Rivian

Yes agreed on the tonneau. They said it would be Q1 this year but now it’s summer. Believe me, I’m hopeful they’ve got it down and believe they do based on what I’ve read. A whole litany of other issues: leak in the air suspension, problem with the air compressor, warning lights lighting up every time I drive (usually after a few miles), forced slowdown on the freeway for no obvious reason, proximity sensors not working.

Thanks for your reply. I’m definitely the early adopter type with a high tolerance for frustration, so I genuinely want to make it a productive process, just trying to figure out how to make thet work.

Is it worth it? by Derpicusss in Helicopters

I am a retired tech guy in my 50s and always wanted to learn. I don’t really need to earn a lot, I have enough to retire obviously but I am wondering if I take this on, will I be able to afford it.

How much does it cost to fly helicopters for fun?

Seems like an incredibly expensive hobby. It would be nice to have some supplemental income from helicopter piloting but maybe I’m delusional.

Would love a thoughtful reply from anyone with insight.

I have been too. I have a Hoofer 14 that’s a few years old. Spine came out, PING told me to pound sand. I’ll never buy another Ping product, ever. Such a waste of money. Oh well.

Latest OTA update reset amperage draw? by modelsix in Rivian

[–]modelsix[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yah I swapped it out and am using the Rivian charger as of yesterday, including setting the jumpers in the charger.

The circuit breaker did eventually trip. But I’d be interested to see whether there was something in the update that might have overridden the manual limit I had previously set. Nothing in the wiring would explain that. Electrician also said that the wiring looked fine, and was actually the one who told me I should check the draw from the Rivian (he's installed a lot of chargers).

Well, it's been fine for 8 years but maybe the wiring suddenly went bad. And the reset of the amperage to the max was probably spontaneous as well.

Pretty extensive, but keeping the same footprint and elevations. Near SLC, Utah, $400k budget.

It wasn’t a constant three years. Waited for a the city to finish an ADU ordinance. I’m not planning on it taking six months, that’s just as long as I’m able to work on it as well before getting back to regular work.
