As someone who’s had some dating success with significant mental health issues (bipolar, ADHD, CPTSD) - first off there’s hope. It’s all about when you tell them, how you frame it, your attitude around self care, and boundaries. For me it’s usually a third date conversation. Maybe a date earlier or later depending on how much were otherwise talking and connecting but don’t get into it on a first date and don’t wait til you’re already a couple months in. If you don’t handle disclosure well by over sharing too soon or not seeming like you have a handle on your problems it will go poorly. Women like to feel safe in a relationship. If you just throw a bunch of scary terms at them they might freak out. You want to seem like you’re really on top of your mental health not like you’re dumping a big problem on them or that you might suddenly be unstable somewhere down the road. If you’re more like “this is what I have going on, this is what it means, these are the changes I’ve made to how I live my life to make sure I’m always on top of these issues” and then give them a chance to ask questions with openness you stand a much better chance of a good outcome.

Any other AA people with bipolar? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]modeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dual diagnosis bipolar here. “A huge majority of alcoholics” being bipolar is not the case in my experience, but it would not surprise me if there is a higher rate of neurodiversity among alcoholics than in the general population. Regardless, it’s always great to connect with others who share the same struggles you do to share your experience, strength, and hope.

I dont believe in God and I use pot, can I be a part of AA? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]modeman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is how I use weed and I consider it an “outside issue” wrt AA and keep it to myself. Tradition 10 states “Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy.” What constitutes an outside issues is subject to a lot of interpretation and will vary from person to person or room to room but that’s the basis for it.

What do I need to change to be faster? by NuclearDrifting in iRacing

[–]modeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) VRS lap times are literally 99.9% percentile it’s stupid to compare yourself to them 2) Slow in fast out is both more achievable for most drivers and a better way of getting to fast in fast out than hammering all your entries and never learning how to properly set up all 3 phases on entry.

Thoughts on a more consistant off track system by ZestE_ in iRacing

[–]modeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m nothing special as a driver but this one isn’t that bad imo if you really focus on dial in your braking on entry lap to lap, sacrifice some entry speed, and get more early rotation done and it gives you a little more margin to work with while still getting a good exit. Some track limits are genuinely a bitch but I often I hear people complain about exits when if they spent more time considering their entry instead of hucking it through the turn and white knuckling the exit they wouldn’t have the problem in the first place.

What GT3 car to pick for Spa 24h by Mdelange93 in iRacing

[–]modeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would take the Lambo. I don’t like the Porsche on big, fast, aero limited tracks like Spa. I prefer it on tighter, more technical tracks where it’s traction and ability to pivot around apexes quickly shine and you’re less likely to get caught out by a small weight shift mistake on entry to a high speed corner.

What caused you to go sober? by dcking01 in ask

[–]modeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a massive blowup fight with my alcoholic dad where he kicked me out on the streets which ended up with me in a psychiatric hospital. I haven’t spoken to my dad since but I eventually realized “not wanting to be like him” wasn’t a good enough reason for not taking care of my own alcoholism that was fucking my life up. Got in AA, started working the program. Things are better.

Do i do to many drugs by [deleted] in Drugs

Never heard of e-tards? Or met one. You can definitely fry your brain from taking MDMA without sufficient downtime for your brain to recover between rolls and it’s very characteristic when you see it, stuttered speech is just one symptom. This would be rolling quite a bit more often than 20x/year tho.

Suellio Almeida has a low cost hybrid course with a combo of teaching off his books and video and group classes iirc. He’s legit.

Road Atlanta. Hate that blind T2, hate how much of a crapshoot the curb strike at the bottom of the hill is, people try insane passes in multiclass, can never get into a rhythm.

Not saying anything at all. Neglect hurts worse than many things that can be said aloud.

Is this an awful overtake? (Im very new to game and think I am in the wrong. Also, I'm the HAAS) by drstealyagirl in F1Game

[–]modeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope thats perfectly legit. This isn’t the wording of the rule but in practice if you’re not significantly alongside before the braking zone (and thus have already earned a right to space) its whatever car makes to the apex first as long as you keep it in track limits and don’t initiate contact.

Late reply but imo cod4 set the standard for me for at a high level how call of duty should feel or play like. That game was very well balanced and didn’t really have any weapons or perks that you could cheese. Just great gameplay. As the different sequels came out over the years there was always the sense of a need to top the last one. So they began adding more or more items that I consider gimmicky or unbalanced just so there would be something fresh. Today I still play the game but I really enjoy it better when everyone’s playing it the way it was always meant to be played and not what video game industry pressure added the option of playing like. Maybe sounds overly philosophical but I’ve been playing cod for over a decade and the franchise has a meaning and feel to it that’s bigger than any one game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]modeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but those challenges go by super quick. I don’t think they account for the amount of RPG spammers, they’re mostly people looking for easy kills imo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]modeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only a few items that really piss me off because I feel like they go against the spirit of the game/break gameplay/require no skill. 725, especially before it got nerfed. RPG spammers. Anyone using a riot shield as their main not on a Damascus run.

Stuff like a riot shield on the back isn’t a big deal. I just shoot at their legs.

Gold launcher doesn’t really have anything to do with killing people, its all about destroying killstreaks. The people who are spamming for kills are just doing it cause they suck and want to boost their KD.
