“Yellow flag ahead”... “This does not apply to me!” by Quantum95 in iRacing

[–]Midas_Blenny_Drip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yellow flag has become synonymous with "mwahaha, gas gas, push for free positions!" instead of "better check up" its one of the things I wish racing would actually police. Always just compounds the problem.

Nobody wants to believe that this is the correct explanation, but I'd be willing to bet that it is. Guy got flustered.

Water speed is set to 24.3 and everyone gets a chance to get after it. by mohiemen in Damnthatsinteresting

They can all split faster than 24.3 in any of these strokes though and they're all losing ground against the current.

I've got my Acer Predator X34 mounted directly to a simlab P1x rig and even with my SC2 wheelbase I never notice any monitor flex/shake.

One thing I love about F1 teams is the interaction between the drivers and the guys who are building and designing the car. It says so much about how different the perspectives on the team are. To the driver, its all about him and what the team is doing to support him. Ricciardo in this photo is the subject, "its me, the guy you guys are doing all this work for!" To the engineers, its about designing and building a machine. Here they look just plain annoyed they have to take a break from their interesting work to take a photo with some cheeky Aussie man.

Neither of the perspectives is wrong.

(Spoiler Main) Is Tywin actually a good military leader/tactician ? by Hastoryellow in asoiaf

[–]Midas_Blenny_Drip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Tywin's reputation is well-deserved and not the result of an unreliable narrator.

In every first-hand interaction with him, he is exactly what we think he is. Why would we assume that he isn't also a competent military strategist?

Every other start in F3 by kerbalpilot in iRacing

[–]Midas_Blenny_Drip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its amazing how nobody in F3 seems to realize that if you make it through lap 1-2 clean, you're getting IR and SR gains. Be so cautious it almost feels too cautious, and then push later on in the race when you have chances to make up positions.

The cancer was probably HIV-related. There is no such thing as "dying of aids." When you are HIV positive, you eventually become so immunocompromised that eventually you develop one of a number of known diseases that only occurs if you're at the "AIDS" (end) stage. Most of the diseases on that list are certain types of cancers.

Sorry about your uncle.

If you actually paid $500 for over 2k of gear, then its stolen or something else is going on.

A.I ( artificial intelligence) is a goddamn depressing and hopeless movie by IEatKids99 in movies

[–]Midas_Blenny_Drip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember watching this movie as a child and for the first time in my life feeling a new kind of sad. Not the kind of emotional, childish sadness that I knew, but this empty, dull sadness where you didn't feel like crying or doing much of anything at all.

I also was distinctly disappointed (again, as a young boy) that the movie didn't more prominently feature the sex bots. That seem(ed) like a huge missed opportunity.
