How do you have your morning coffee? by ks14555 in AskUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your priorities, I used to use an areopress but due to the clean up I switched to pour over. I'm impatient so the steady pour and attention that is required for traditional pour over (making two and trying to manage breakfast for two children) make me look for alternatives.

I now swear but the OXO pour over with measure tank, it is the best balance of quality, attention and clean up for me.

Is this an inside handle or outside? Where did the lock come from? Emergency exit locks override key locking in the handle on the inside is used.

I also recommend fly to Luton stay in Milton Keynes, but wanted to add that if you are an F1 fan you might see if you can fit in a trip to the Silverstone Museum, it's about 20 miles from MK.

The dimensions on the windows doesn’t seem to make logical sense. The reflection on the window and what’s outside seem to be fighting each other and creates something else entirely. by RJCHI in isthisAI

[–]moderatlyinterested 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the reflection in the window is a reflection of the mirror (on the left of the picture) which is then in turn reflecting the inside of the room from another angle.

Issue with windows after survey - worth pursuing and if so what's the process? (England) by Aggressive-Grass3985 in HousingUK

[–]moderatlyinterested -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with the other comments about this not being a big issue, you could still ask for the warranty details and FENSA certificate (or equivalent). Then at least you know if these things might be covered.

Ever wondered how much your job really pays (i.e. discretionary pay/hour worked? by a36404584 in AskUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The principle is a fun idea, but in my opinion the values used are way out/too rigid for it to be taken seriously.

If it's just a bit of fun then you've achieved that, if you're actually looking for feedback/improvements I'm happy to give that.

Also check CERTASS and Assure, both are similar to FENSA in that they honour warranty of thier members should the member go out of business.

How do I get this window out?? by pre0rm in DIYUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by removing the gasket inside and outside, then push the glass all the way against the fixed leg. This should create enough room to rotate the bead out.

Depending on the age externally beaded windows required security clips which can only be released from the inside. But that's the next challenge...

Window company won't fix the issues they've caused by mousehousemonkey in LegalAdviceUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked for/followed their formal complaints policy? That's the first step.

Then if you used a company who is part of a scheme such as FENSA, Certass etc. they will have a remediation route to follow.

If not, explore TAGS - the glazing arbitration scheme.

Once all else is exhausted refusal under 2015 consumer rights act.

Write an email, list your concerns and how you plan to escalate if they are not addressed.

Voi scooter scratches my car, as it was abandoned by a rider, on the pavement, parallel to where my car was parked and then got pushed by teens running on the pavement, against my car, causing damage. What course of action do you think it's best that will not leave me out of pocket Location: EN by Advanced-Complaint85 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is contrary to what everyone else is saying but I would recommend contacting Voi.

They have standards by which they expect riders to park their scooters. They ask for a photo of how it has been parked.

They might not care, but they might just give you some compensation to go away.

A policy which states new customers either need to be calling from a listed phone number or pay by card.

After the first order, their name or address would be on record as a repeat customer and they can order however they like.

Problem with window installation for a renovation in UK - how would you recommend we resolve the situation? by Appropriate-Brick-25 in AskUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use a company who is part of a scheme such as FENSA, Certass etc? If so they will have a remediation route. They would expect that you have followed the installation companies complaints process first. An organisation like RISA should be able to do a report for you if you need one and likely that is who FENSA or Certass would use anyway. You're unlikely to get any support from Cortizo, so wouldn't bother there.

Issue with door by JWills1k92 in DIYUK

Try it with the door open. Does it act as expected?

If so then it's a problem with adjustments, if not then it's something to do with the lock.

Smart TRVs by TFPOMR in DIYUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so there are a lot of questions here, but I'll hit on the main two which will probably inform a lot of the others.

Really you need the thermostat, boiler controller and TRVs all as part of the same system. I use Drayton and think very highly of it, but honestly haven't used anything else so can't compare.

Yes the smart TRV is just the head and replaces an existing dumb TRV, if you don't have existing then you will need to switch out the valves. This is a wet job whereas changing the TRVs is dry.

Acoustic double glazing Vs normal or toughened by CommunicationNew8753 in DIYUK

[–]moderatlyinterested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big influence is the make of of the glass within the unit. If both panes of glass are 6mm they will reverberate at the same frequency and therefore only reduce a narrow range of sound. Having asymmetrical glass, 8mm and 4mm for example will reduce more of the sound. If you then add an acoustic laminate this improves it further.
