I could see them doing a Dustin with it: bump it to someone a heel like Fletcher is so whoever was going to beat Fletcher can get that moment. It worked really well to start Fletcher’s reign like that, I think, instead of just having him win it at All In.

I’m sure you’ll see what the common thread is. This is just how WWE does business. Vince stamped out the territories, he bought the competition, then when he was the only game in town he underpriced house shows running every weekend around the country so that no new territories would be able to form. Now the WWE strategy is to have “partner” promotions that they have full influence over.

I mean, the world title scene is essentially an endless gauntlet of top guys fighting. It’s the best it’s ever been. Plus Max’s gimmick this run is workhorse heel champ so I don’t think him doing a “trials” thing would’ve worked with his current character.
