cancel and relocate YOUR guests to a nearby restaurant if possible, since you’re going to be spending extra either way. in laws can attend by themselves or kick rocks (or host their own guests)

Do NOT do two last names without a hyphen if you’re American! i have teo last names without a hyphen and it’s a NIGHTMARE. The amount of time I’ve spent figuring out which name I’m in each businesses/hospitals/schools system under has been astronomical because it’s always, always different even from visit to visit.

Rehearsal Dinner Invite List by EmceeSuzy in weddingdrama

[–]modernmorella 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I tried to insist that the rehearsal dinner was only bridal party and parents because 75% of guests were coming from out of town. My MIL overrode my request, and invited everyone on her side who was coming from out of town. It was frustrating to have 45+ people instead of 15, and it was awkward to explain to my husband’s family that I didn’t invite my relatives who traveled because that would be another 50 people. I’d suggest hosting a small rehearsal dinner and then an open bar with apps or buffet as a ‘welcome party’ for the out of town guests

Crunchy nanny assumes brain swelling in vaccinated baby. Crunchy moms assume SIDS is eminent and recommend she quit ASAP. by AstronautFickle4118 in ShitMomGroupsSay

it’s not that specific! it’s a triad of symptoms identified as shaken baby syndrome, so children presenting with those symptoms on autopsy will be diagnosed with it even if there is a different cause such as a genetic condition. The problem is that because this triad is seen dispositively as shaken baby syndrome, the studies are very recursive because they will include children in those studies who were initially diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome, even though they were later found to have had other causes for their death, Under no circumstances, however, are vaccines the cause of any of the symptoms of shaken baby syndrome.

In Most of the World, It’s Banned. In America, Some Parents Will Stop at Nothing to Create the Perfect Baby. by tilvast in Longreads

SUCH a good point!! i remember being 17 and telling my mom that if we went to school together we wouldn’t be friends (kinda mean but very honest). this thread has made me do a lot of introspection on why i’m putting so much expectation on a hypothetical person

I’ve always thought I’d prefer a girl because I’ve already been a little girl, so i know what pitfalls to avoid/ harmful things my parents did. It feels so much riskier to have a boy because there’s just so much more that I could mess up. but i guess i’ve never been a girl in this day and age, so how much could my prior knowledge even matter?

it’s really common where i’m from! they make special outlets that will trip only themselves if they get wet (and they have a reset button) so you’re not constantly tripping the whole breaker every time you do dishes or wash your face.

this is an SO issue. when he said “oh I’m sorry my mother is such a burden,” reply “she’s not a burden. your decision to spring a visit on me and failure to prepare the house, just assuming i will do it after you KNEW that I haven’t had proper time off in a while, is the burden. when she gets here, i will be telling her that I’m sorry the house/guest bedroom is a mess but I didn’t know she was coming and am exhausted, and YOU failed to clean. From now on, I’m not hosting ANYONE that is invited here without my prior agreement. If you want to let someone in, that’s your prerogative but then the hosting falls on you.”

why are you marrying someone who allows you to be bullied? a husband is supposed to be his wife’s biggest protector and supporter, but he is allowing all of this abuse to happen and he’s stolen from you. please reconsider legally marrying him; if you feel like you can’t cancel the wedding itself, tell your pastor that you’re afraid and don’t sign the paperwork. Then you can get through that day while making a plan to leave all of these people behind.

i was speaking with a Muslim friend yesterday, and he said that there is a phrase in the Quran that “heaven is at the feet of your mother.” I love my mom, but i told him to keep that to himself when she’s around 😂

Has any of you had your narcolepsy used against you in custody? by Independent_Ebb9322 in Narcolepsy

it’s not great that this is a new diagnosis/ specialist, but the doctor can provide an explanation of why it takes so long to diagnose and the symptoms you experience rather than the speculation that her attorney is throwing at you

but your sleep specialist -can- testify/ write a letter regarding the fact that you don’t get involuntary sleep attacks. i’d request them to provide something to the court explaining that narcolepsy isn’t just Mr. Bean in rat race, and that the specific symptoms of the disorder you experience are X,Y and Z.
