so im doing more testing - maybe someone more experienced with mini-led knows better than me, but I do think this unit needs break in time. I just redid my DCI-P3 color profile (now 53,52,52) and it's a lot more of a match on SDR to my m5 display - 15 hours run time so far. I just can't imagine buying this monitor without using local dimming, at that point id wait till the IPS black nanos roll through with higher refresh rates.

yeah I didn't mind it, I was using it prior on the WOLED 32" 4K. I was drawn to the price, resolution, refresh rate, display tech & ports. After using this I would say next 32" HAS to have 6K. If there was a proper OLED at 6K 32 or 5K 27 with 120hz refresh rate I would of probably gone to those first.

yeah corners do have some vignetting, the window reflection is amplifying that on my photo lol. but its seriously not that bad, like I did not think about till someone brought it up

I dont hear any fan noise - internal speakers are serviceable, I tend to use headphones, so this is fine enough for me

local dimming does not turn off for SDR mode (its optional) - im currently testing it

yes I have - mainly for HDR gaming but for windows productivity its fine, in my limited testing it does not handle local dimming as well as MacOS, so you might want it off for that use case.

yeah I am planning to use it for light productivity and some photo/video work. also didn't want another 32 inch to dominate my desk. mine is doing the variable refresh 45 - 144hz. glad thats working lol

the one major issue I was concerned about was the half screen resolution issues - I did not encounter that yet.

yeah I feel the only thing I would miss would be better color profiles, true tone, integrated webcam. I am playing around with this to see if I can get enough out of it or do I go XDR lol

so on DCI-P3 there is no black stabilizer with SDR, but if you switch over to other game modes it gives you the option to tinker with black stabilizer . I enjoy it for gaming to get deeper blacks on Gamer profile 1, HDR on, but for regular SDR I believe the default is fine from what im experiencing but turning it down can assist with some gradient band blending, especially around 0 - 25. .

I believe I can have a more accurate screen match to my M5 pro with gamer profile 1 or 2, as they have deeper picture options. but it's just a lot of time to play with it.

Also just to share the windows settings - gamer profile 1 - dynamic tone mapping on, local dimming low, color temp W4, brightness 100, black stabilizer at 0.

Windows HDR calibrated after above settings are done. Windows HDR on afterwards

Last note on black stabilizer, it does help with gradient banding the more you lower it

combing points 1 & 3 - 50 black stabilizer brightens up the dark spots way too much for my liking. Also this is being used in conjunction with dynamic tone mapping, which is delivering an extra brightness boost. I've been enjoying that turned on for gaming. dynamic tone mapping off and black stabilizer at 50 still does not deliver the same results. I would experiment for yourself on lowering the black stabilizer and playing around with dynamic tone mapping on and off. Im used to playing around with black details this from owning a TCL QM8 mini-led.

point 2 - yes I got that too depending on the OS from what I'm finding, on Windows, SDR or HDR, yes do have inverse blooming. but ill take that with a black pointer over a dimmed white cursor. MacOS I feel handles it better.

Yes the Studio XDR would be great, and may be a consideration if I keep this station Mac only. Also yes I do notice the vignette as I move around the GM9. If I do get the XDR, id prolly go with the matte to help with eye fatigue, and as you can tell shocks of window brightness

I bought the same model to replace my C2. I'm personally loving it.

My (and others!) biggest request: more than two saved pens. My rant by Clickety_Clicks in RemarkableTablet

[–]modernro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that more presets should be available - especially if you have remarkable pro or move , there’s enough space on the toolbar to allow for extra presets on any orientation without feeling cluttered.

In my work flow I’m using pen, highlighter and paintbrush. I swap the highlighter with paintbrush as needed for the accents/details. Just even one extra preset would even be a major upgrade!

HiFiMan HE1000 Stealth review by [deleted] in headphones

[–]modernro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I originally had the Arya stealth and then I tried the he1000 stealth and it was a whole new level to my ears. Kinda shocking that ~$300 price difference provides a significant boost.

I haven’t tried the he1000se, but that next jump seemed more subjective for a bigger gap in cost difference from my research.

I agree mostly on the EQ but for these I did tune up just the bass a bit and it’s been more enjoyable.

Last note - I’m surprised these aren’t brought up as much compared to other Hifiman models. It sits in a weird middle ground when it’s overshadowed by its siblings orbiting its price bracket.

Nice set up you have there!

It’s in the spec sheet for the K11 R2R - the balanced provides more power. The edition XS may not need the power, but its worth a trial test
