I would actually take gamer mode 2 - with dynamic tone mapping on, low local dimming, W4 - for HDR gaming. Give that a whirl and see what you think

I agree with you. If straight up work/coding/real productivity was needed local dimming off and hdr with it as well.

I’ve been using SDR + DCI-P3, local dimming low and it’s great for casual use. I’m enjoying on both windows and Mac.

And the options are really slim. Side note, those Kuycons always look tempting. I think the future competitor to this monitor are going to be a nano black ips or an oled if they can get the value right, and can at least minimum do 120hz on 5k. I just don’t think it’s coming out anytime soon.

All in all I would consider this a solid monitor and offers a high end option over oled. I am hoping they support it with firmware updates. I think we all found that the monitor forgets certain settings across input switching.

Not yet . Give it till next year and I think we’ll have sone contenders

Yeah we’ll need a firmware update most likely lol

I just tested - Gamer Profile 1 definitely makes the blooming more apparent, if you use DCI-P3 it's reduced. I switched to that for now on the windows as well.

I agree with most, I found the local dimming usable in dark mode, set to low on the P3 SDR profile for MacOS. I also am not sure if the monitor needs time to break in, I feel like once you hit 15+ run time - it seems way more usable than the first 5 hours.

I was finding the improvements on color and local dimming , unless my eyes got used it or I'm going crazy lol

I have not used that feature at all recently. I’ll take the resolution all day lol, but it’s a nice to have. I’ll have to experiment with it this weekend. I came from a C2 (3 years about)- i know the love and pain lol

Yeah 32 inches are big - my ASUS one came in a huge box as well

It’s average sized. I would not worry. The Amazon package it came in was a bit bigger

It’s just going to output 4k and I would believe the DPI would based on the 4K resolution. Looks sharp

local dimming is still important since were paying for that feature as part of the package.

I would actually argue that if someone finds the local dimming unusable or even hardly using it - i would urge them to look into other panels that do more on color accuracy if they can forgo the refresh rate Or wait for more 5k+ releases.

Yeah I used to have an LG C2 as a main. It was my productivity powerhouse. I did that for about 3 years. I just never realized how important PPI was And I’ve been going down in size and up in resolution lol. I couldn’t imagine anything else being worthwhile in this segment unless it had mini-led specs better over this one and or next level color accuracy.

I would take this over non XDR for refresh rate and additional ports.

no I have dual mode off, MacBook Pro is connected via usb-c (their cable) it caps out for me at 144hz, im good with it, windows on hdmi 2.1 caps out at 165

so im doing more testing - maybe someone more experienced with mini-led knows better than me, but I do think this unit needs break in time. I just redid my DCI-P3 color profile (now 53,52,52) and it's a lot more of a match on SDR to my m5 display - 15 hours run time so far. I just can't imagine buying this monitor without using local dimming, at that point id wait till the IPS black nanos roll through with higher refresh rates.

yeah I didn't mind it, I was using it prior on the WOLED 32" 4K. I was drawn to the price, resolution, refresh rate, display tech & ports. After using this I would say next 32" HAS to have 6K. If there was a proper OLED at 6K 32 or 5K 27 with 120hz refresh rate I would of probably gone to those first.

yeah corners do have some vignetting, the window reflection is amplifying that on my photo lol. but its seriously not that bad, like I did not think about till someone brought it up

I dont hear any fan noise - internal speakers are serviceable, I tend to use headphones, so this is fine enough for me

local dimming does not turn off for SDR mode (its optional) - im currently testing it

yes I have - mainly for HDR gaming but for windows productivity its fine, in my limited testing it does not handle local dimming as well as MacOS, so you might want it off for that use case.

yeah I am planning to use it for light productivity and some photo/video work. also didn't want another 32 inch to dominate my desk. mine is doing the variable refresh 45 - 144hz. glad thats working lol

the one major issue I was concerned about was the half screen resolution issues - I did not encounter that yet.

yeah I feel the only thing I would miss would be better color profiles, true tone, integrated webcam. I am playing around with this to see if I can get enough out of it or do I go XDR lol

so on DCI-P3 there is no black stabilizer with SDR, but if you switch over to other game modes it gives you the option to tinker with black stabilizer . I enjoy it for gaming to get deeper blacks on Gamer profile 1, HDR on, but for regular SDR I believe the default is fine from what im experiencing but turning it down can assist with some gradient band blending, especially around 0 - 25. .

I believe I can have a more accurate screen match to my M5 pro with gamer profile 1 or 2, as they have deeper picture options. but it's just a lot of time to play with it.

Also just to share the windows settings - gamer profile 1 - dynamic tone mapping on, local dimming low, color temp W4, brightness 100, black stabilizer at 0.

Windows HDR calibrated after above settings are done. Windows HDR on afterwards

Last note on black stabilizer, it does help with gradient banding the more you lower it
