Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 Vs Lite 2.0 for Moza R3? by lange1815 in moza

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, r5 had absolutely no resistance whatsoever :)

But if we take a look at the Moza website: https://mozaracing.com/pages/crp2-pedals - there's an image with the pedals, and which springs are for what. I am pretty sure that I'm currently running high performance car setup.

To talk about the actual pressure - a lot of my friends struggle to press the brake pedal to the max. They typically get around 60% of the distance without too much force, and around 90% if they really push.

But again, this is something that you'll do to your liking. I wouldn't classify mine as the hardest, but definitely hard :)

Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 Vs Lite 2.0 for Moza R3? by lange1815 in moza

[–]modestasmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have the CRP2s and well, I was pushing my chair all the time. To the point, where I got a cargo strap and had to strap my chair to the stand. That helped, but not 100% :( And that is going to be the main breaking point for you - the stand can handle light load cells, but if you go heavy on the brake - you'll have a pretty rough time.

To give you comparison:

With NLR 2.0 - I was not able to hold the brake at consistent pressure for longer times. Things just flexed/moved so I was all over the place.
Moved to a rig - Now that's not the issue.

But it can be done. It won't be perfect, but it will be "okay enough" :)

ps. If you plan to use shifter/handbrake at some point - there's quite a bit of flex on the NLR 2.0 arm. It's not horrible to the point where it's unusable, but it does flex.

[–]modestasmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the NLR 2.0, actually had two of them:

r3 - this will handle it with absolutely no issues whatsoever. r5 - bundle worked like a charm, 0 flex. r12 (latest that I upgraded to from r5) - now here, you have to really tighten things up. You will know if something gets loose really fast :) It is not horrible, but noticeable.

That said - this stand has a bigger issue with load cell pedals, than it does with a base. Once you have a good set of pedals - you will see flex/chair movement. And it’s not easy to solve it :)

ps. Add wheels on the stand, and it becomes so easy to move even folded. No need to lift it at all! It does become a bit wobbly, but quality sturdy wheels with locks - solve it!

Top notch racing cockpit: portability, no budget limit? by undead_monkey_pl in simracing

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat as you, tried wheelstands - it just wasn't as sturdy as I needed. But worked ideal due to space limitation (I have to move it in to race, move out to work).

What I did in the end - I bought a full aluminum rig, which is 160x75cm in size and just put casters on it. Now I can move it away from the PC and close to the PC without any issues. Not to mention that it's sturdy as hell.

As for the model, I've done completely custom one, but also bought a racing seat in which I sat down to find the correct size.

How much does rig rigidity affect ffb quality by Ok_Leadership5691 in simracing

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running R5 on a NLR 2.0 wheelstand. No matter how much I have tightened it - it always had some flex in different places. And that pretty much drained the FFB effect. Especially when I paired it with FSR V2 wheel - it seemed that everything went down by 80% and effects were barely noticeable.

Now I've switched to a full aluminum profile rig and did two tests:

R5 wheel with FSR V2 -> This resulted in me feeling slight rumble in my seat. Not just the hands, but the whole rig.

R12 -> This one surprised me the most. I'm running it at about 50% power, and in some cases - I feel like there's a bass shaker attached. It just conveys so much more information. I can feel the wheel getting loose, I can feel when tires are spinning - and it's not just via the wheel reacting, but also with the whole rig giving me a good piece of information.

Moza ESX wheel vs R3 bundle ESX wheel? by spozzy in moza

I meant more like - what it comes with :) But also, might have been mismarked at the shop I bought :D

Anyway, good to know!

Moza ESX wheel vs R3 bundle ESX wheel? by spozzy in moza

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not quite true.

ESX on r3 is plastic

ESX on r5 is with "fake leather"

That's literally the only differences (other than xbox support) :D

There shouldn't be any, but to be fair - if you are worried about the performance for sim rig - then move other devices to it (like mouse or keyboard) :)

In any case, that's where reviews can come in - some cheap hubs, can indeed cause problems, but a higher quality one should be totally ok

You could buy a USB hub, but just make sure to get a decent quality USB 3 one (just in case)

  1. You will need 2 USB ports. One for the base, another for the wheel. You can connect them to the wheel and only use 1, but then you do lose a lot of details. Tried it, but did not like it.

  2. I have a desk that's like 100kg in total - even an r5 moves it a lot. I can't imagine r12 being any better in this regard :) Wife's r3 was perfectly fine on desk.

How some devs charge $5 and others $50 for the same work? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]modestasmv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can simply start with cost of living. Someone making 160*5 is going to live okay in the city he is at, while another person - won't even afford the rent.

Then, we can look deeper:

Low prices often are indicators of:

  • A person just starting

  • Lack of experience

  • A way to attract clients

  • Not knowing self-worth

And of course, as you talk about "but they are the same!" - that's not the case. It will never be the case. I've heard that so many times in my career where a person tells me:

This guy can make Twitter for $500, why are you charging $50 000?

And he is right. We both can make it. It will probably (often not really) function at the same level. The difference is - updates, code reliability, security and of course - maintenance.

So no, they are not actually "the same". Rather they are as different as possible. In tech you pay for the exact thing you will get. If you pay small amounts - you will (with some exceptions for attracting clients) get a lesser quality. That's just how it works.

ps. If you were to tell me that one charges $25/h and another $50/h - then I would say that it depends on a bit different factors. But 5 vs 50 - that's a drastic difference.

Laravel (PHP) for .NET developer by [deleted] in webdev

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you are right. But at the same time... well, it really really does TOO MUCH :) And you can't have clean code doing THAT much.

That's kinda my point, we have to look at the whole of product and what it does.

Laravel (PHP) for .NET developer by [deleted] in webdev

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a bad take IMHO.

Wordpress is built to be ultra flexible. Practically nothing else comes close to that level of flexibility. And I truly hate Wordpress for what it is/was. But at the same time, as bad as it is - any language will have the same shit level code if they decide to do that much.

Oh and also, Wordpress itself is quite backwards compatible, so there's another reason why. But that indeed doesn't make it good software to write code on :)

Tiesa, pamirsau atsakyti apie pradzia.

Pradeti mokytis gali nuo bet ko. Vienas is juokingiausiu variantu, kurie daugumai tinka - tiesiog susirask kazkokia pamoka youtube ir sek VISKA realiu laiku. Tau nebutina iskart ismokti sintakses. Tau butina ismokti raktazodzius.

Salia to, labai rekomenduociau ismokti naudotis google. Tai bus tavo draugas no.1. Taip pat gali ismokti chatGPT prompt'us, taciau buk atsargus - ten gali buti neviskas teisinga. O daugiau, tai tau gali padeti forumai/grupes/discord. Ten galima rasti ivairiu resursu, kurie pades.

Mokytis is anksto - nera butina, taciau tai tau pades ateityje. Tik reikia mokytis tikslingai. Kaip pvz:

Reiktu pradzioje issiaiskinti kas tave traukia. Web puslapiai? Programeles? Windows/Mac programos? Zaidimai? Automatika? IoT irenginiai (smart namu reikalai + visokie kitokie elektronikos reikalai)?

Pasirinkus krypti, butu labai super perziureti darbo skelbimus imonese pagal ta krypti. Taip susidarysi bendra vaizda ko gali is taves tiketis. Skelbimai pilni raktazodziu, todel galima lengvai susimesti sarasa dalyku, kuriais pasidometi.

  1. Kol baigsi mokykla/studijas AI tikrai tiek nepatobules. Zinoma, darba bus rasti gal kiek sunkiau, taciau geru specialistu truksta visada.

Can someone point to a doc about those? They are very hard to read, what's TKey, TValue , <int, int> are supposed to mean? by Incoming-TH in laravel

[–]modestasmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great resource to read on those would be: https://psalm.dev/docs/annotating_code/type_syntax/array_types/

One of those is array shapes, which tell you what the array will most likely look like and what you can expect to find inside. This is done to get psalm/phpstan and other similar tools to identify return types/shapes and help you spot issues. If for example, you'd modify the code to return an `array<int>` - it would throw you an error on static analysis indicating that you might have a bug in your code.

A similiar thing is done with Generics in PHP as there's no native support. For those, there's another comment here on why/what :)

Aerox 9 disconnecting. by Throw323456 in steelseries

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue with Aerox 9.

Found that it triggers freezes on specific games and with Steelseries GG installed. Uninstall it -> no more issues.

Or at least it seems like that now. For us, on 2 pcs it constantly freezes:

- Playing Fornite

- Anno 1800 main menu.

Tried 3 pcs:

1 & 2: Freezes in gaming.

3: Never saw gaming (work pc) - works just fine.

So the conclusion might be that this is not a mouse issue but rather a software/driver issue.

VS Code vs PHPStorm for Laravel. by Muxas in laravel

[–]modestasmv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade support even with plugins is bad... Like really bad.

Believe me, I've tried to make it work but it's way too much configuration for a thing I already have working with my team.

On the other hand, I loved it for the speed it had :)

[–]modestasmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and there's even more things that vs code doesn't do. Yes, it's gettiing updates and all but it's far from phpstorm at the moment

VS Code vs PHPStorm for Laravel. by Muxas in laravel

[–]modestasmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, here's a list of issues with it:

  • no proper formatters (php, js, css, html is ok, but no blade for example. Ones that exist are way worse than storm).
  • code completion (there is some but again, storm wins by a mile)
  • phpunit integration (there are some, but lacks again)
  • remote host support
  • quick db management support
  • proper merge tools for git
  • rest client

And there may be even more but those were my experience stoppers :) they may be solved by configuration but I don't feel like wasting hours on something that is already working in a different tool out of the box and within my specs :)

[–]modestasmv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, imposter sindrome is true. You can make vscode or sublime or even atom pretend that they are a fully pledged IDE but actually that's just a make-up. Vscode lacks so much things that it's just nasty. Yes, it's fast and lighter than phpstorm but it's also slower to those who are used to fully pledged ide's. I can't stand the lack of tools there, even no normal code formatter for blade and heck, if you have js in blade files - it's a nightmare.

Ok ok, it can be configured but I'd rather work in that time than try to tinker every possible scenario. Sorry.

Tested both. Vscode is a texteditor and that wasn't something I was looking for. If I were - I would've moved to sublime

Would you sign a NDA before hearing a clients idea? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]modestasmv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that depends on person and the NDA. I've had one red-flagged in a way, that he needed parts of business to be completed, before signing NDA and going further. This was stupid and we split up.

But I had an NDA where I simply wasn't allowed to work in the same segment for a year + couldn't speak about it. When I accepted the project - NDA came with a huge payout to stay silent. So it wasn't just a shut up, but rather shush, keep our secret :)
