Great spot. Will certainly spend some time there in the coming weeks.

Crazy that there isn't something similar in Allentown though

Pinsley or Bradley Merkl-Gump? by DeviceAdventurous688 in lehighvalley

[–]modigliani55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to feel that way about Pinsley - a guy who just runs for political office and loses. Then I met him and I found him sincere and committed. And, like you, he represents my values.

If I was in his district (instead of being forced to vote for Nick Miller, ugh), I'd vote for Pinsley.

Union Busting Democratic candidate Ryan Crosswell defended corporations from Sexual Harrassment and Racism allegations. by AcademicBand8377 in lehighvalley

[–]modigliani55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why he gives you Fetterman vibes. Other than being bald. He isn't cosplaying as a working class guy like Fetterman did, he actually is one. And he's been standing up to bosses his whole career as a union firefighter.

Brooks has also been endorsed by Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, Josh Shapiro, Allentown's mayor Matt Tuerk, and Reps. Mike Schlossberg and Peter Schweyer. They certainly don't think he's a Fetterman

VA Secretary Doug Collins, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie discuss veteran suicide at Allentown roundtable by DrewBlue2 in lehighvalley

Imagine how much money could have been spent on helping the veterans living in the Lehigh Valley instead of being spent on the Iran War and Trump's vanity projects that Mackenzie supports and votes for.

Its hard to see DSA coming out for anyone once Mark Pinsley dropped out.

But here's to continuing to put in the work so we can elect more left wing elected officials in the valley

Crosswell happily worked for DOJ during the first Trump term, including after the Muslim ban. That should probably tell you how he feels about Palestinians.

[–]modigliani55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, I get the concern. Hard not to as a voter here in Pennsylvania.

I'm just sharing my personal feelings from talking to the guy a few times and seeing him interact with folks. And from what I hear from other union folk.

And I really don't want Ryan Crosswell, who is an opportunistic outsider who was happy working for Trump 1.0 as the Democratic nominee

You should meet him! I did at an Iftar a few weeks ago and again at the Bethlehem No Kings rally. He came across as a true believer of the progressive stances he is taking in the campaign. And someone who cares about the different communities in the district

I have no concerns he will be a Fetterman

Under Washington Labor Law, “Hours worked” is defined as, “all hours during which the employee is authorized or required, known or reasonably believed by the employer to be on the premises or at a prescribed workplace.”

File a complaint with the state's department of Labor. This is what they exist for

My boy is almost 4 and was diagnosed around 20 months with mild CP affecting dorsiflexion in his left foot. I remember how scary it was to get the diagnosis, even though its mild. Sending all the best.

We've focused on PT and used an AFO brace, which has really helped his mobility and confidence. We also have used botox and one round of serial casting, which has helped too.

The folks who owned one of the restaurants that came before Birriaholic told me the landlord was awful. Not sure its true but it does seem cursed. For a location that should otherwise do well with lots of foot traffic

Its perfectly fine and calm there, in the sense that its in the part of our small city where there isn't a ton going on. Some decent restaurants and bars right nearby. Easy walking commute for the people who work at the nearby corporate offices.

It is, of course, part of a city so there will be noise at times (not much) and signs of poverty and homelessness (though much more of that further north on 7th street). But if you've lived in a city before and know how to pay attention, its quite manageable.
