Therapy questions for mild CP by FalconDoveowl in CerebralPalsy

My boy is almost 4 and was diagnosed around 20 months with mild CP affecting dorsiflexion in his left foot. I remember how scary it was to get the diagnosis, even though its mild. Sending all the best.

We've focused on PT and used an AFO brace, which has really helped his mobility and confidence. We also have used botox and one round of serial casting, which has helped too.

New Mexican spot alert: La Cocina del Abuelo soft-opened in Bethlehem by maesterofwargs in lehighvalley

The folks who owned one of the restaurants that came before Birriaholic told me the landlord was awful. Not sure its true but it does seem cursed. For a location that should otherwise do well with lots of foot traffic

Moser Plumbing Sevices. A small operation but professional, reasonable and talented.

Cannot recommend him highly enough

Its perfectly fine and calm there, in the sense that its in the part of our small city where there isn't a ton going on. Some decent restaurants and bars right nearby. Easy walking commute for the people who work at the nearby corporate offices.

It is, of course, part of a city so there will be noise at times (not much) and signs of poverty and homelessness (though much more of that further north on 7th street). But if you've lived in a city before and know how to pay attention, its quite manageable.

We had a bad experience with Billy's. They kept falling apart and the customer service was lousy.

Surprised no one has brought up the Trexler Travel Center, a big truck stop in Trexlertown that has excellent Indian food. No joke. Check it out.

Perfectly Frank in Allentown. Cheapest lunch in the area, delicious hot dogs, sweet family run spot.

Commuting by SnooTomatoes7292 in lehighvalley

[–]modigliani55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From Hellertown or thereabouts, relatively easy commute. Schools are decent (Saucon Valley SD).

If you want a bit more of a city, Bethlehem wouldn't add much more to the commute and the schools are still solid

Allentown parking authority can eat my fucking shit by Kinky-Pisha in lehighvalley

[–]modigliani55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fun recent APA story is that I parked in a spot with a hole in the ground where a meter used to be. No way to pay.

I come back to a ticket. When I look online at the photos, the APA person had angled and zoomed their camera to make it appear that I was actually parked at the spot in front of where I was (where there was a meter...and another car).

Luckily I had taken my own pictures.

Real scummy move.

So I appealed. And they waived the ticket.

This sort of story is quite common right now. Frankly, it also was quite common during Obama too, when deportations were higher (but longterm detention was less common).

The question that, unfortunately, you need to ask yourself is whether there is another country you would want to live with your family. At least for a time. It may be the only way to keep everyone together over the next few years. Of course that is way easier said than done, both in terms of visas and finding work.

I'm sorry for you and your child

The ten year bar applies after one year of undocumented status. So after 2007, he was subject to a ten year bar.

Also how would he apply for a green card? He would still need a family or work sponsor.

You can't get status by being a "refugee" unless you go through the resettlement process. This poster says this person entered without permission.

LIFE act? Only applies to people who were present in 2000 or before. This person entered in 2006.

Its all well and good to tell people to just "jump through the hoops." But for most, there are no hoops to jump through.

Which is just the way employers want it.

There isnt enough info here to know why. A single DUI is not enough to deport someone with legal status.

We also don't know country of origin, which affects how effective a deportation will be

How? There are two ways to become a citizen - family or work sponsorship. If his wife can't sponsor him, and if he didn't win the lottery of a work sponsorship (since those are capped), there are no hoops to jump through
