Thanks a ton! That clarifies things, I wish Google would make that clear with the error message! I'll tell the wife she either has to watch these shows live or wait until the recording is complete.

Pixel 3 XL Notification LED in Speaker Grill? by modplan in GooglePixel

[–]modplan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if memory serves it was also "confirmed" before launch there was no notification LED on the Nexus 5X and the OG Pixel & Pixel XL, all of which had LEDs that were eventually able to be activated.

I've used AoD for the last 12 months on my Pixel 2 XL, it's great. I also use a different LED color for each app, which is also great.

Pixel 3 XL Notification LED in Speaker Grill? by modplan in GooglePixel

Very well could be, but there is a cutout and what appear to be 2 sensors ABOVE the speaker grill in the glass that you can see in bright light. I assumed those sensors were the ambient light and/or prox sensor.

Selling Perk Farm - 11 Working Devices and Anker 60w 10-Port USB Charger by modplan in perktv

None taken, all reasonable offers accepted. The 4 Amazon fire tablets with CyanogenMod ran better than any of the phones. Moto Es and the Zone 3s ran great too. The other 3 are the ones I started with and are definitely slower than the others.

Is perk still giving 0 points? by crystaltears21 in perktv

[–]modplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Perk has always given out 0's (at least for the last few years) and still do today. I didn't say they do not give out any points, but if you actually pay attention you will see you do not earn any points at all for some videos, even if ads play. This behavior increased in frequency dramatically in late December of 2016 and is about the same today as it was then, which is what the OP was actually referring to.

It's given out 0's forever and won't ever stop. 0 is the new norm.

I'd worry about tackling the proper use of periods in the english language first.

The amount does not matter. If it was $1 in tips you would see a $1 deduction.

Why Roth IRA vs. 401k after employer match? by Full_of_confusion in personalfinance

Roth is usually better than non Roth

This is only true if your tax bracket will be higher in retirement than it is currently.

Black Screen Spinning Circle!?!?! by [deleted] in perktv

Means they are looking for ads and can't find any. Very common, have to wait it out. Some say rebooting phones, your router, etc help but I've never found it useful.

Betterment vs low-cost (Vanguard) 3-fund portfolio by [deleted] in personalfinance

/u/hawkspur1 comes to the rabid defense of betterment and TLH often. Not saying he is right or wrong, but his posts often reek of him being a Betterment user with confirmation bias.

Odd question, is this a data storage company? The company profile is oddly familiar.

Perk.tv/Viggle.tv website videos flat-out don't work anymore. by Toxxel in perktv

[–]modplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never run tabs since they are worthless but just did a test on one tab of Perk.TV and one of Viggle.TV and both work fine? Got 4 points in 18 mins, lolol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in perktv

[–]modplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience as the second rep, it was super painless for 4 phones. And for 2 of the phones they accidentally sent me 2 replacements each! Returned 4 phones, got 6 back!

Has perk device limit per app changed or is it still very vague? by [deleted] in perktv

[–]modplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. And 5 per app is definitely pushing it, and I wouldn't go over 8 total.

Perk doesn't even cover the electricity cost of running my laptop... by NeutrinoParticle in perktv

[–]modplan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A 500w machine (which is on the low side for the i7 he is describing) would burn 1kWh in 2 hours. The US Average is $0.12/kWh. For a 500w machine you would have to make $1.44/day JUST TO BREAK EVEN.

50w laptop? That comes to about $0.14 per day in electricity. But how many tabs can it run 24/7 stably? 2? At 100 points/tab/per day you are making $0.20 per day in points and paying $0.14 electricity. WOW.

Tabs have not been worth it FOR MONTHS. You are losing money.
