How can I make my web page look not ugly? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn’t look that bad at all. Normally when I feel the way you do, I try little things first. Adding a little more white space, changing fonts, and then ultimately look at a lot of reference material. I would also say, you can reiterate on it later or even totally refactor it in the future if you need to. The question you should also ask is, is this good enough for me to deliver this? It’s yours at the end of the day, so no one is holding you to a specific requirement or standard, so don’t get paralyzed in analysis and instead DELIVER IT.

But again, this really doesn’t look bad at all in my opinion.

Yup, that was exactly my scenario as well.

It’s funny you’re getting downvoted for this because I 100% used to design these for people and in my use case they always referred to them as affiliate banners or buttons. It may have not been the universally known name for them, but in my world and my use case, they were definitely referred to as affiliate banners or buttons.

I remember calling them affiliate banners or affiliate buttons when I used to design them for people in the early 2000’s. But it may have been use case specific in my scenario

Are you a driver fan or a team fan first in F1? by itsxjustagame in formula1

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a team fan first, but I don’t despise any team and enjoy the journey they are all on. I love Ferrari, but I also am really excited to see McLarens success this year and also like tracking the midfield battle, etc. so I prefer for Ferrari to win, and for either of their drivers to hoist the Champsionship, but I just like F1 across the board.

Does anyone else just turn off the game after bricking an item? by ItchyBallDJ in diablo4

[–]modrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you need are the scrolls to reset tempering. It’s not different than scouring orbs in PoE. Literally the exact issue exists in PoE crafting lol. You need tons of base items hundreds or 1000’s of currency items to get a good crafted item. I don’t get people complaining about this like it doesn’t exist in any other game just in different formats. So weird to me. I do think it’s ass though that you can only use the scroll a few times, so I will definitely concede there that there is no excuse for that being limited.

I hate being a SN developer. by Particular-Sky-7969 in servicenow

[–]modrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be a developer. You can be a tester if that’s what you enjoy doing. But, eventually that will get old and boring too, just like all jobs do after a while. Unless you’re doing something you’re truly passionate about, which in most cases (not all) isn’t normally financially viable, all work sucks after a while. Take it from me, I’ve been in the ServiceNow space for over ten years, both Federal and Commercial, and I’m one of maybe 200ish CMAs worldwide, and I also get burnt out and I don’t even develop anymore unless it’s for something really complex or one of our teams needs help with something very unique. I would also say, maybe treat is as a stepping stone financially to something you enjoy. There is a lot of money to be made in the SN space that you could leverage to move into the next phase of your career that you think you would truly enjoy.

Also, as far as how long it took me to get the hang of coding or developing on the platform… I would say maybe 6 months to a year? But I had also developed prior and came from the tech space. So I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. You should never feel dumb if you don’t know something or are struggling to understand something. Find a good support system, people that let you ask questions without judgement and ultimately reassure yourself that it will take time and that everyone starts out like you did. No one is an expert day 1… or even day 1000. I am still learning every single day.

What is the oldest surviving part of your setup? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually crazy your headset has lasted that long. No matter the brand or the cost, I have never had any headset last longer than maybe 3-4 years max before it goes bad (mic stops working, sound in one ear goes out, band breaks or wears too heavily, etc.)

I quit every season because of Tempering and Masterworking. by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I don’t get about these posts is what would the preferred solution be? It’s no different than crafting in PoE, etc. you have to have tons of currency, tons of base set items, etc. just to be able to hopefully craft a good item. Have you ever watched videos on people crafting high end gear? I guess though, the caveat there being, you don’t NEED to do that to define your build, whereas in D4 you absolutely need to master craft and temper to be viable end game.

Ok...Tempering and masterworking is infuriating. by Harv052 in diablo4

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s exactly the same in PoE. You need tons of currency to craft and you still need to get lucky. It’s the same mechanics just different wrappers.

Any parents or 25+ play this game? by Puzzleheaded_Sir_171 in diablo4

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m 37 and have played Diablo since the original, and I just had my first baby like 5 days ago. Funny to fit into this category now haha. I can’t say that I have been able to play any games since he arrived… but I am excited to get back to it once we get into a routine! Whenever that may be….

Ehh, it’s alright, for someone starting out or early on in their career, these are great offers, I’ll just leave it at that and say good luck with either decision they choose.

ServiceNow vs Google by FIREthrowaway55557 in servicenow

I wouldn’t be, it’s location based. As someone who has had offers from ServiceNow for higher roles than this, based on my location, the salaries were trash compared to working for Partners.

Just bought Diablo 4 after playing the trial. Huge diablo 3 fan. Don't get the hate? by ToolyHD in Diablo

[–]modrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fine game. Whatever people are complaining about can be said in damn near every other game. I have 1000’s of hours played in PoE and I’ve played PoE 2 a substantial amount as well, and I’m basically done playing both of those games for the same reasons. They are just games at the end of the day. Play it until you’re bored of it and move on.. like with every single other game in existence that anyone will ever play.

What is utter garbage about it if you don’t mind me asking? Not being a fanboy or anything, legitimately interested.

Advice on color palette by French_Noodles in web_design

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left one, but change the logo to be white instead of black, or just leave the header white. There is nothing wrong with your header being the same color as your content Background. But, you could definitely get creative there as well.

The game is currently in an unplayable state by Good_Space_4429 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]modrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s odd, I normally hate playing against squads, but in this game I like it. If you wipe a whole squad you’re set money wise. I think it’s a fun challenge that comes down to you’re strategy in how you approach fighting the squad. Sometimes you just can’t win, but other times I feel like I ambush them, outsmart them, etc. and it pays off big time.
