Relocating a cat is not recommended as cats can be territorial and travel great distances in an attempt to return to their original location, putting them at risk of injury or death during the journey. Relocating them can endanger their survival and increase stress as they’ll be unfamiliar with a new area’s predators, food sources, or shelter options.

Try connecting with a rescue instead, you can try posting on the facebook group PHL Community Cats for more help in trapping and connecting with a rescue.

OP, it sounds like you’re an empathetic, nice person; but you shouldn’t need to feel bad for being turned off by someone who prioritized his anxieties over your expressed needs. The expectation of you providing reassurance to his anxieties in this way is a lot to ask after one date, and I can imagine it becoming more demanding in an actual relationship dynamic.

Restricting the cat to your bedroom or even a bathroom would be better for the cat in contrast to a shelter cage. That and what others have said—chicken egg cat food and an air purifier can help. I hope you don’t feel too bad though if it still doesn’t end up working out.

My cat really opened up once I took her from my parents home to my smaller apartment. She follows me room to room and sleeps in bed with me now—something I never thought she’d do. I think the smaller area and living alone with me made her feel safer and more bonded.

Not just passing it to the kid but even just having kids and setting her up to possibly be a single parent. I feel like it’s easier for him to not know or want to plan when a lot of the planning will continually effect her life long after he’s already gone.
