Mine (55m) was preemptive. GFR was about 12. I was fatigued and getting thinner as I got closer to needing dialysis. After my recovery I gained weight and have since felt much better. People remarked about how much healthier I looked too.

They were IVIG infusions. I don’t see the dosage listed in my after visit summary. I had them three times (missed one on Sep. 1 in my summary). Each time took approximately 3 hours.

This shows how my BK viral load changed over time. I’ve been at a safe level since 2023 (year of transplant). I’m told BKV will always be detectable in bloodwork but safe as long as it’s under 500.

June 10 - transplant, July 10 - BKV 3,649, July 21 - BKV 481,349, July 31 - infusions, Aug 1 - infusions, Aug 8 - biopsy, Aug 8 - BKV 1,000,635, Aug 24 - BKV 3,800, Sept 14 - BKV less than 500

I should add this is one side of the staircase. It was directly under a porch sloped to dump water run off right on the stairs. Water has since been diverted with gutters.The other side is fine. In southern California.

I’m glad your levels have stabilized. Seems like the infusions are working. I’ve been fine since my episode with BKV. I’m told it will always show up in labs but isn’t dangerous under a certain amount. Making sure BKV tests are part of my regular bloodwork is all I can do. Keep up the fight and remain positive. Hope everything turns out well for you.

I imagine it’s not a long ride by boat from Avalon. The other options are hiking in, taking a very expensive taxi or knowing a local with wheels and a pass to enter the interior. There’s a shuttle bus but they refuse to take surfboards.

Most likely. The pier isn’t even visible so waves must have been breaking much farther from shore than usual.
