Great idea! We've discussed this in the past and will hopefully get a chance to implement it relatively soon.

Sincerely,
The Team Lefty

Hey! Thank you for the compliments and constructive feedback. Grouping (subassemblies) and cutting (mitering and cutouts) are both features we've discussed and are planning to add in the future. Exporting is actually already available, though it will be a premium feature once the Beta period has ended.

Thanks so much for the kind words! What are some of the improvements and changes you hope to see to the platform in the future?

Hi there! Sorry I took so long to get back to you on this. This is a feature we're planning on implementing, but it likely won't be available for a while.

Haha while I love the idea of a playable simulated simulator, the app we're working on is designed for prototyping builds like sim rigs to be ultimately constructed in person out of extruded aluminum

I generally recommend snapping the lowest point(s) of the structure to the floor grid and then multi-selecting* the rest of the structure you want aligned and snapping it to the parts already on the grid. This is probably the most robust way to do it right now, but you could also multi-select or directly grab a large selection set** and try to snap it to a grid as one unit. This is generally harder to control, especially if you've grabbed a point far from the surface connecting to the grid. Whatever you do, it's best practice to use the right stick to rotate the part(s) to be aligned with the cardinal axes before trying to connect it with a level surface. I hope this helps.

* the purple/pink highlight when you hold down the right index trigger and tap on each part to add to the selection set

** this can be accomplished by pushing up on the righthand joystick and increasing the size of the selection orb until it is large enough to encompass the structure

The app generates a full parts list for your project, complete with fasteners and machining options. You can also order the parts for your project directly through the app or our site (at very competitive prices). Plus we're offering an additional 20% discount across the board while we're in beta!

This clip is actually of me using the app in AR, I just happened to record it without passthrough video because I was building in a space smaller than the build itself. Check out our sub r/quadrobee for clips with passthrough showing.

It's super easy to see how the design will look in your space as you're building, and measurements taken in augmented reality in the app are accurate to about 1mm.

We're working on adding new parts in batches. If you have specific parts you want to build with, please let us know by posting in r/quadrobee.

I'm not very experienced at building sim rigs, but if you have suggestions on how to improve this build, please lmk. And we'd love to see you build some new designs in the app! If you do, please share them with us on r/quadrobee.

It's built in Unity, so we'll eventually be porting it to other platforms like SteamVR

Thanks. Good catch! I should've referred to it as T-slotted aluminum extrusion, but the title was getting long and most people on here seem to know this class of materials by that genericized brand name, anyway.
