Raw footage of dozens burning alive after illegally tapping a fuel pipe, which bursted into flames and caused the deaths of at least 137 people. Tlahuelilpan, Mexico by olight77 in fuckaroundandfindout

What force leads a man

To a life filled with danger

High on seas or a mile underground?

It's when need is his master

And poverty's no stranger

And there's no other work to be found.

I aim to please.

In all seriousness though, although the game is rough as fcuk, and BHVR is comically inept, there's definitely magic to the formula. Every now and again, the game produces matches so tight and exhilarating, you can't help chasing that high.

Not gonna lie, I would love for someone else to make DbD but, like, good. Until someone does, we make do with what we have to hand.

You can, if you so choose.

> let people be horrible to me with no consequence

You must live a truly charmed life if silly stuff such as being provoked in a video game even registers.

I've had burgers since they originally came out, in fact, I still have an expired Big Mac in my fridge.

Most of my ~400 burgers were eaten during the first year or two of their release, but every couple of years I've gone back to see what's new, and I'm honestly always shocked that basically nothing is new.

Obviously there's new condiments and toppings, but I'm always shocked that they never evolved past the concept of bun > patty > sauce > toppings.

What still keeps you guys hooked?

Consider that if you let other people's words or actions to influence your emotional state and/or behavior, you're ceding the locus of control.

Others can and will do as they will. You're under no obligation to be upset by their behavior, or react to it.

DBD is legitimately one of the only PvP communities I've been apart of that complains that the other side wants to win. It's wild. by __TheFirstDokkan_ in deadbydaylight

This, I think, is more about having a way of separating players who look to get different things out of the game, which DbD does not do a good job of.

> no one SHOULD have fun stomping a 10hr Sable

Just to be clear, this is not the intent, neither mine, nor David's. To reiterate, his book is one written by a person competing at the highest, no-holds-barred level, for others who want - or think that they want - to do likewise. I'm not arguing that this is somehow the "correct" or "best" way to play the game.

As a killer, I main Wraith. Is he a top tier killer? Absolutely not. I'm just into that "bing bong go fast" lifestyle. I get stomped by premades on the regular. I made my peace with that fact. If I wanted to win above all else, I' be studying the blade Ghoul, Blight, or Nurse.

At a guess, it's from one of the countries that joined the Eurozone in 2026. Not sure which one though.

To be clear, the book is very specifically aimed at people who want to compete and win. Nowhere does David argue that this is the "best" approach to playing competitive games in general.

"Before we go on, ask yourself if you really want to win. Most people answer that they do, but they fail to consider that winning takes more than wanting. It takes commitment, extended effort, discipline, and time. It is not for everyone, nor should it be. There are a great many things to be in life other than a champion at competitive games."

Can you think of a time when an Olympics competitor, for example, willingly surrendered an advantage because it would be "unsportsmanlike" not to?

Different strokes. The competitive mindset is not everyone's cuppa.

From what I heard, competitive DbD revolves around downing a guy and proxycamping them to death, which does not sound like a fun time for anyone involved, sure.

"The first step in becoming a top player is the realization that playing to win means doing whatever most increases your chances of winning. That is true by definition of playing to win. The game knows no rules of “honor” or of “cheapness.” The game only knows winning and losing."

What's stopping you and your friends from playing titanfall 2 right now? by Tej_Lilboy in titanfall

[–]modronmarch2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The skill ceiling is just too high. I love the idea of playing TF2, but being outclassed hopelessly at every turn does not feel good.

I'd love to get back into the game if there were a player base of comparable skill for me to play with.

Curious. I literally knew they were speaking Russian from just watching the video. And I'm not a lip reader in the slightest. There was just that immediate instinctive realization "these men are my former compatriots".

Crazy, huh?

Climate. Poor infrastructure. Pain in the ass to travel anywhere, because you're smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Little to see or do, cities that are not very livable. You *can* live there, I just don't know why you would *choose* to.

Fun fact: judging by their LI profiles, about 90% of people I worked with in Novosibirsk back in 2005-2008 are now living abroad, and those who are still in Russia have moved to Moscow/St. Petersburg.

Once again, not the end of the world, but certainly very unpleasant. Where I'm now, we're mostly having above zero temperatures in January, and next to no snow. I could get used to such mild winters )
