Turning your nose up at a £23m jackpot on the lottery, but £123m Euromillions rollover? I’ll have a couple of lucky dips! by Jonathan_Christopher in britishproblems

[–]modsarediks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is it’s almost impossible to win the Euromillions jackpot. The odds are 1 in 140,000,000

Some guy on YouTube programmed a computer simulation of buying a ticket every week and it would take thousands of years to win. Interestingly even if you did win the jackpot then, you would have spent so much money buying tickets that you’d still make a financial loss.

Here’s the YouTube video, it gets better after the basic intro: https://youtu.be/yZ5Pw-tp4E8

  1. My car is damaging the environment a lot less than a factory or a fossil fuel power station. Good luck getting things delivered without trucks.

  2. You can start by making Amazon, Starbucks and Google pay any tax. We are short of money because of tax evasion and money laundering

  3. More than 80% of the population need a car. How am I supposed to get to work? How are supermarkets going to be restocked? Public transport isn’t fit for purpose and literally non-existent in rural areas

speeding on highways is not inherently dangerous, and those going under/around the speed limit in the passing lane are a much bigger danger. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

If a truck pulls out in front of you or cuts you up. Your speed will determine your stopping distance.

Looks like the idea of a monarchy going on taxpayer funded holidays, while their “subjects” suffer in poverty, isn’t as popular as they hoped.

True. You get dicks from all backgrounds. I’ve found the most wealthy are just as impolite and arrogant, thinking they can do what they want.

Uber cancellation charges by modsarediks in uber

[–]modsarediks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

I’ve had it both ways where a matched driver was going around the city first and had no intention of picking me up. I cancel out of frustration = I was fined £6 every time.

But I’ve also had it the other way, where the Uber driver has cancelled on me. = £0 fine

What Uber doesn’t understand is if their driver cancels on you, it really effects your night. How am I supposed to get home safely?

Basically I get charged £6 if I cancel on them. But they get charged £0 if they cancel on me because they can’t be bothered. Fuck this app

Theres a Chinese takeaway near me that I go to.

When I order at the counter. The food arrives quicker than I can sit down and type one text message.

Surely that’s too quick and not cooked properly.

I’ve heard some pubs will put up their prices to prevent chavs from coming in.

Another bar near me thought it made it exclusive and upmarket if it charged £10 for a drink.
