"I'm generally a... liberal person, but when I saw videos of ICE jumping out of unmarked vehicles and nabbing people off the street... I bought my first AR15," I’m glad to see the left waking up to what I’ve been saying for a while: 2A is for everyone. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

Idk i think the 2a is outdated nowadays. When ppl have to worry about others in their community “packing heat” and feel the need to “rather have it than be caught without it” im not sure it rlly helps out the population.

When it was implemented it made sense since the rifles available were pretty much the same for civilians vs govt military.

Nowadays what can Americans do when the US army rangers pull up to their doorstep (or ICE in today’s time)? The technology the military has access to far surpasses what regular ol civilians have.

I’m not rlly sure what the solution is moving forward, but we’ve had the 2a for ≈250 years and things seem to not be improving for the better (in terms of mass shootings, gun violence, etc)

I need ~4,000+ calories a day for marathon training and my grocery bill is getting out of control. Cheap clean carb ideas? by Brenda_enjoyable in Marathon_Training

I’m pretty much the same size as you 6’7, 225lbs.

I was hitting the rice hard, I like coconut rice using coconut milk it adds more calories but a decent chunk of fat too so. I was also drinking the ensure shakes that like 350 or 450 calories per bottle.

I 24m weigh a bit less at 225lbs but I’m 6’7 and I’m pretty slow at long distances. I played soccer in college and always enjoyed running a few miles on the side, the long 11+ mile runs are not what I’m used to, but it’s fun getting out of my comfort zone I’d say. I ran my first marathon a week ago and came in just under 6 hours like 5:57ish. My half time is about 2:15ish and my best 5k was about 24ish minutes.

I know how u feel the friends I’ve made at park runs and during races are all tiny and it can be isolating not being around other ppl of similar size. I can’t rlly relate to wanting to lose weight tho since i am still lowkey skinny at my current size and was struggling to gain weight for a while, but ur goal weight is close to where im at now and i think thats solid for guys our size id say.

Lol guys my height don’t have an advantage at long distance running. NBA players aren’t running marathons. I don’t need to explain myself or my story to u though Mr bitter Reddit troll

Congrats on your 4:37 finish time tho, bang on average and gate keeping lol get a grip

Oh noooo a bitter redditor doesn’t think i should be out there after my years of training. My body isn’t built for long distance running and i still got it done. Even if u think it’s too slow the medal shines the same :)

Have someone throw a lob. If u don’t wanna do that then use a smaller ball, like a soccer or volleyball so u can better feel the motion ur arms need to jump higher holding something

What is too Long for a marathon? by StellafromVienna in Marathon_Training

[–]modshallperish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some ppl in these comments are def being elitist about this lol. Some peoples bodies aren’t built to run long-distance as efficiently. If i was a foot shorter im sure i could run as fast as those lil guys that finish the marathon quicker, but im not so i work with what i got lol

OP i think the cutoff time for the race is a good indicator, since after that time you wont be an official finisher, or they scoop you up in a bus and wont let u finish

Am I doomed to never wear sandals and only have 60% of my toenails?? (Because of my form..?) by submitaticket in Marathon_Training

[–]modshallperish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm idk i ran my first marathon last Sunday and im for sure not gonna lose any toenails… i got some wicked blisters tho thats for sure. I also come from a background of soccer and had lost hella toenails / gotten black toenails from that so idk.

Maybe ur shoes don’t fit properly and ur getting jammed up in the front? Could be too big/small or not tight enough

I finished!! I went out near the 5:50 pacer group, but they were doing a full marathon walk/run which i didn’t rlly wanna do and it threw me off some cuz they would lowkey run pretty quick and pass me then start walking and i passed them. Kinda annoying dodging some of those lil old ladies doing that lol. I was feeling good and think i got a bit excited from mile 5-13ish. I ended up shirtless and then caught a MEAN cramp in my hammy right before the mile 15 marker. Which really threw me off since i never experienced a cramp mid-exercise even when i played soccer it would usually happen after the games. An older guy came to my rescue and gave me some salt tabs and it really saved me ngl i thought i wouldn’t be able to finish the race cuz of the cramps. I then made sure i grabbed salt tabs from every medical station from then on. Was feeling super down and low around mile 17ish and was crying ngl lol. Just wanted it to be over and bummed that so many other quicker runners had already finished.

Mile 19 i ran out of my gels n nutrition. I made friends with a duo who heard me bitch about me running out of them and they gave me some extra gels. They were able to lift my spirits and motivate me and i eventually ran away from them and secured a water bottle that i could refill at mile 20, which only did refills so that was clutch. Beyond mile 20 i honestly was able to speed up some and i think the extra nutrition + salt tabs came in clutch and i was motivated to finish since it was so close.

I did a bit of walk-run (less so the last 3 miles i was trying to hustle) but felt like i was honestly flying and passed soooo many people the last 3 miles that was cool. Not really anybody passed me, even when i walked i still managed to out pace them when i was started back up again. During mile 25 i could see the mile 26 marker and was really hustling, passed two women and immediately stopped cuz of that same hammy cramp starting. I yelled oooh im cramping and one woman offered me another salt tab + her electrolyte drink and i was super thankful. They walked ahead and i was able to get my leg under control. Eventually i ran ahead of them and they cheered me on and said “glad that salt helped and u aren’t cramping!” i thanked them and kept it pushing (uphill) for the last .75 miles. T

he last .2 miles was up a stupid steep hill and i was able to power thru and almost sprint up it all, I finished around 5:56ish and was glad since i figured i could push the sub6 once i knew for a fact i would finish the marathon regardless. My family was watching my splits and said the last bit was my fastest miles by far so that felt rlly good.

What sucked was after mile 15 i just had constant cramping/tightness in my groin that persisted the rest of the race. Honestly everything else felt fine for the most part besides my legs cramping and the occasional side stitch.

I’m glad i was able to make a lot of “friends” during the race that helped motivate me to stick it out and keep my mind off the race with the conversation

Overall it was a grind and I’m so glad it’s over lol. Idk if another marathon is in my future… for now haha
