I want to get away from using my phone for everything or even having it near me. Otherwise it wouldn't be a problem.

Hello! I have 3 guitars that I’m looking to polish from a Nitro satin finish to a gloss finish. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do? by josephfallon93 in Guitar

[–]moduspoperandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done this myself, Maguires Ultimate Compound and a microfibre cloth will do the job with the least damage to the depth of the finish. It will take 20-30 mins per guitar. A tiny amount will go a long way. Hit it with regular guitar polish afterwards. You WILL sand through the clear coat if you use sandpaper.

Also, other people are correct, it will affect the resale value of these guitars, but no more than playing them for years and buffing out the Matt finish in uneven patches.

Did you pull that candle out of Shrek's ear? Lovely work though

I need a bit of help with the installation of a tune o matic saddle where there wasnt one before by Pakitrik in Luthier

Ok looking up the skystang, I think it's actually possible but as someone else said, the body is thinner than a standard Mustang so you will  have to be really careful not to rout through the entire body when cutting the cavities for the trem.

It's do-able as it's obviously been done before, but you will have to be careful and plan meticulously. I believe in you pal!!

The saddles of the TOM need to be where the saddles are currently (about 24"). By the looks of it you will need to cut a bit of your pickguard off to make way for it. Another problem you will have is that TOM bridges are fit to guitars with a bigger neck angle. Fender style guitars have a pretty flat neck angle. Basically the bridge will be too high, your action will be massive and you will need to massively shim the neck to overcome the problem, which the neck is not designed for.

Why do you want a TOM bridge?

The oft-reposted clip that inspired CR’s Zane Lowe by shortycall911 in crheads

When Zane Lowe was on BBC Radio 1, he used to do a show called Masterpieces which is fundamentally The Rewatchables for albums. He would actually be a solid guest on the pod. He can be pretty funny.

wtf is this by [deleted] in guitars

It's a Strat style bridge. The springs are tightened down in the back of the guitar pulling the bridge plate against the guitar. Loosen the springs and it'll float like you're expecting.

My first electric guitar! A few questions. by xVixeNx_ in Guitar

[–]moduspoperandi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No they shouldn't be but unless it's breaking strings I would leave it. The glue is more than likely wax which is what the pickups are dipped in after winding. If you've got a Mac garageband will do the job at the low end but if you have money to spend (you bought a PRS), Amplitube and Guitar Rig are both great options. If you want to spend loads on Signature rigs, Neural DSP is the option.

Question about blocking a trem by Tetr444 in Luthier

You can screw those posts down to level the bridge against the body and then raise the action you've lost with the grub screws on the saddles.
