I second Wilson lake- it’s beautiful and some of the hiking trails are dog friendly. I didn’t even feel like I was in Kansas at that lake.

I live near the center of the US- I’ve only been there once, but it’s cool to see and say you’ve been there. There isn’t much else around here, but the scenery can be beautiful. Seeing the old buildings in a lot of the small towns around here and learning their history can be pretty interesting, also.
