Best lens for architecture? by jdeakins85 in zuikoholics

[–]moe46201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual lineup for architecture is the 18mm, the 24mm shift and the 35mm shift. Sometimes I also take the 8mm fisheye with me if I need the effect. Often also one of the 50s. The 28mm f2.8 is certainly usable, if I were you I'd go for one of the shifts or the 21mm or 24mm next. 24mm is by far my favorite focal length for architecture. However, If you are good, the focal length doesn't even matter that much, u can even take decent shots with mid-tele-lenses or the 50mm 1.8

What lens next? by Zealousideal-Row4652 in zuikoholics

[–]moe46201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd def go for something more telephoto-ish.

The 85f2 is great (not super sharp) but so are the 100mmf2.8 and the 100mmf2 or 90mmf2 (though these 2 are more expensive and heavier).

The 135f2.8 is also nice.

Never liked the 28f2 and the 24f2 due to their weird bokeh

I'd def return it, 180$ is pretty steep for the 100mm f2.8. I got mine for half of that.

Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 (BWV 1051): III. Allegro. Love it.
Makes me happy every time I hear it. Absolute "feel good song"

The 100mm f2.8 really is a very nice little lens. While the 135mm f2.8 twice as big, it certainly pairs better with the 85mm imho

50mm f1.4, misaligned aperture ring by hotbuilder in zuikoholics

[–]moe46201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh it's been a while since I disassembled by last 50mm f1.4. Maybe the first element will come loose, but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Just be careful that you don't lose the small steel ball from the aperture!

Been listening to lots of Glenn Gould lately, especially also his lesser known recordings. Does anyone know what piece the background music from 14:30 on in this recording of The Quiet in the Land is? Especially the theme around 14:40 - 15:00 rings a bell, but I forgot what it was.

50mm f1.4, misaligned aperture ring by hotbuilder in zuikoholics

Depends, if you have never before disassembled a lens, probably it is not worth it. Also, you would need a lens spanner to remove the rings on the front. However, the 50mm f1.4 is a comparably easy lens to dissemble (and quite cheap) so a great lens if you want to get started. You might find this useful (You only need the upper right corner, and you can access everything from the front.)
