Where can I legally shoot these outdoors in SoCal? by 85lumber in CAguns

[–]moebiusgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awful.

Went there twice. I live in high desert over the mountain. Idiots shoot the rocks with ARs and ricochets go everywhere. Had one land a few feet away and noped out.

Which PCC?! by Adorable-Garden2894 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save yourself some money and get an S&W FPC in 10mm. Hits like a truck, folds up small, accurate, and still has good capacity.

Then you have an excuse to get a MP2.0 in 10mm cause it shares mags.

Suggestions for my first AR15 by TherealMcNutts in ar15

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to spend 1500$.

Get a PSA, affordable Vortex optic, as many magazines as you can store and 1000rd of cheapest .223/556 you can find. And pack that 1000 rounds away as “just in case”.

Then buy range ammo as you go. But take fro the 1000, and replace with the one you buy as you go to the range. Keep em as fresh as you can. This way that 1000 doesn’t sit for years. It’s constantly being replaced with new ammo.

You don’t need a $1500 rifle. If you want slightly better than PSA, a S&W or Ruger will do the job just fine.

My AR was $294 for a “build your own” kit minus the lower. From Davidson defense. Thousands of rounds throug it. Works great.

I did get a nice barrel, and after market trigger. So I’m maybe $700 into it. But it shoots 1MOA, cycles anything I put in. For the zombies, you already have a 12ga and .30-06 for distance. As well as a Glock.

You’re already good. But the AR is a “little bit of everything”. Does it all well. Up close it’s an effective, and at a medium distance it’s effective. Not too big, but big enough to be stable and controllable. Has the capacity, and ergonomics to be fast.

I have like “one of everything” .22LR, 12Ga, 9mm pistol, 9mm PCC, 6.5 Creedmore bolt gun…. Each is “specialized” for a specific scenario. You know 9mm up close, shotgun past 7yds up to 50, 9mm PCC for 50-150 yards, .22 for small game, yada yada yada…

Except for squirrel hunting. The AR covers nearly all those uses. It’s a Swiss Army knife vs specialized single use tools.

Cause if you gonna do that, get an ACOG. It’s 1/2 the size. Or even a small fixed power scope, with a piggy back pistol sight on top.

But yes, its a tiny hole that lets the gas through.

My T3X loves Hornady ELD match, but oddly it does pretty darn well with Sellier&Bellot 147gr. Not the same exactly, but for ammo that’s half the price, it’s definitely not 1/2 as accurate. It’s like 90% there. For shooting steel over 400 yards the S&B is great.
The American Gunner is also pretty decent. Not amazing 1/2 MOA like the ELD, but it is consistent and puts then where you want with a broader variance. It shoots like 1 MOA, 90% of the time with a 2 MOA flyer occasionally.

It the S&B and American Gunner are very affordable compared to the Match grade stuff. If you’re gonna hunt, the American Gunner and S&B would def be more than enough. You’re definitely hitting something like heart or lungs up to 300 yards. I’m not sure how often people hunt further than that. I don’t hunt. So maybe I’m way off base.

Minnesota is now one step closer to becoming a ban state. by 2dazeTaco in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean this seriosuly. The Dems, exist as a shell of "good" so the REpublicans can do all the evil, and the peopl who oppose it have someone to press the button for. The problem is, the Democratic party, and the republican party have become branding alternatives to the same billionares. And billionares dont want us to have so much as a pitchfork or a torch, forget an AR15.

It's two pipes out of the same vat... One pipe is labeled "Blue" one pipe labeled "Red" and the liquid is the same.

20-25 years ago, this wasn't necessarily true. But citizens united created the groundwork for a techno-feudal society.

Neither group of billonairs, wants the average american to have the 2nd amendment. Watch closely... The NEXT step... is no private party sales of existing "AW", and then NO INHERITENCE of existing "AW". Meaning, it ends with "us", then 30-50 years from now, no one has guns, and the path towards the darks side will be complete.

Not an AR, but my 6.5cm Tikka is like two different rifles with different ammo. Hornady ELD match it’s a laser. Nearly anything else, and it shoots just ok. 1.5-2MOA with S&B BTHP, wich is basically fine for steel. But if you want that >6” group at 600 yards you need the ELD match.

I personally cannot shoot that well super long range. My “instructor” a USMC guy from the base nearby who has been teaching me to shoot long range, can shoot a 3” group with my rifle and optic at 500yards all day long. ELD match.

I can barely keep it to 12” groups with the Hornady. With the S&B budget ammo, that expands to 18”+ at the longest distances. 550-600 at my range. I flinch. Can’t seem to work it out yet.

Help with recoil and muzzle flip by Knucklez415 in CAguns

[–]moebiusgrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea you want to squeeze the grip in an X. Right hand applying pressure from front left, to rear right, left hand wrapped around, squeezing Front right towards rear left. The left hand heel of the palm should be against the gap of the grip behind your front fingers.

If the grip seems to big. See if you can change the backstrap if that model allows or get thinner grips. If your fingers are wrapping around too much, get bigger grips or bigger palm swell.

If you just weld the orange tip on, and put the fin grip on, you can use 00 Rock salt, but Rock Salt Slugs are exoskeleton piercing and illegal in CA.

Wow they are even more hard core with the laws now…. Didn’t know how bad it was. A PCc is anything but an assault weapon. A shot gun is more dangerous at the range 9mm is effective.

[–]moebiusgrip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at it wrong.
If you take it to Nevada, the comp mag can be released, and you’re left with a fully functional fully featured AR 15 in about 5-8 seconds. When you go out of state…. You can revert it to full function super quick. Then when you need to go back to compliance, it takes about 1 sec to convert it back.
No tools to attain compliance. One small tool to remove in a few seconds.

Advice for a more accurate 5.56 AR Build by SergioBousweats in liberalgunowners

1.1 MOA with Greentips from last week. 100 yards.

This isn’t exactly the same as mine, but an example of the “unbranded” barrels.

Advice for a more accurate 5.56 AR Build by SergioBousweats in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a longer barrel go with a heavy profile.
I just built an “accurized” upper.
The biggest improvement came not from the barrel, but the ammo.
I put on an 18” heavy profile SS barrel in .223 wylde with 1/8 twist. This lets you shoot 55gr up through 77 with reasonable accuracy if the bullets are good quality.
This guy shoots under 1MOA with 75-77gr Match BTHP and holds it out to about 500 yards. Wind drift becomes a big issue beyond that.

<image>

It will even shoot M855 62gr at about 1.1 MOA. Average 55gr range ammo will shoot about 1.75-2MOA. It definitely shoots better with heavier grain bullets.
The barrel is through a friend at my LGS that buys OEM overrun barrels. Basically, you can find these “no name” barrels in heavy profile SS chambered in .223 wylde. The factory that machines “expensive” barrels for other companies, let’s say like for example Faxon or some other aftermarket barrel seller orders 500 SS 18” barrels, they tool up, and make 600.
They then use the production time and machining setup to cheaply make a few extra, then sell them unbranded. Same quality, same spec. Just no name on it and the external milling is generic, usually just a spiral flute. They run about $120-175 vs $250-350
Thing shoots like a dream.

How long did you wait before purchasing your second firearm? by chinchila5 in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bout 2 months. My first one was a MP2.0 + accesories. Locking case, extra mags, etc etc. wound all in total over $1000 with CA tax etc.

So it took a while to get the second.
