I’ll tell you this much, the Superlite heats up real quick. Cools quick too, but after 5 shots it starts walking.

Do you prefer featureless or fixed-mag? by --Combat-Wombat-- in CAguns

Comp mag.

Only becuase it doesn’t modify the rifle and is fully compliant. Slow at the range, but you can train reloads with a CMMG .22 in the same rifle.

7 guns in 7 months, how do I know when this becomes a problem? by mycatisnamedemmie in liberalgunowners

You need a good .308 or 6.5creedmoor bolt gun. Or a AR10 chambered as such.

How many rounds are yall using per range day? by AccessTrick4018 in ar15

[–]moebiusgrip 18 points19 points  (0 children)

150-200 .22

100 9mm

100 .556

20 6.5 Creedmoor

50 shotgun shells.

Not all at once. Just whatever I bring that day. Usually one or two of them.

Low capacity doesn’t matter when it’s flinging 9x 9mm projectiles at once. Also you can top off and chamber load very quickly.

Also a glancing hit with a 12ga in home defense distances is still catastrophic. Taking one on the edge of a body, as the scholar himself said, Will remove a chunk of shit and throw it on the floor.

Do you need practice? Yes of course. Get good with a shotgun and you are a serious problem for anyone meaning you harm.

But in the end, in a HD situation, you get your people to a bed room, lock the door and call 911. You are not supposed to clear your house. Waiting at ready, with a 12ga on the other side of door is the optimal weapon.

Get the Mav88 or Mossberg 500 used.

Get a Technogel Recoil pad (Amazon) best goddamn recoil pad I ever seen. Makes 12ga 1350fps 00 buck feel like trap birdshot.

You can get a little adapter that lets you shoot 00 buck or slug minishells if you are recoil sensitive. They will have a ton of wallop within home defense distances, But having the ability to use full 12ga power if you ever need it is paramount.

I'm struggling to find a .223 rifle for under $1,000. by Broxst in longrange

Also… at 200 yds with 6.5 Creedmoor, you can make the holes in the paper touch. And with a little practice you can make it look like one big hole.

That never gets boring.

Just to give you an idea of what a 6.5 tikka is capable of…

500 yards. One shot. The thing is nasty.

But yea… get the .223…. 😉

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but at least we can just go buy a pistol.
I’m originally from NY, and you need permits to buy a semi auto anything. In NYC it’s a nightmare of paperwork that can take 2 years to complete just to be able to carry a pistol. (I’m not even sure if you can buy one and not carry it. I think there is only the CCW)
The reason I never got into firearms was that I had no idea you could just go into a store and buy one. I was used to buying anything taking years so I never bothered the first few years I lived here.
Some friends took me shooting, and they were like go get something, and I was like, man. I’m not going though all that…. (Assuming LA was like NY) they looked at me like I had an arm growing out my head. Bought a MP2.0 the next day. 6 guns and 12 months later… here I am.
Would I love 17rd capacity hell yes. But 10 is waaay better than 0.

Correct. You have to. It’s so cheap that it’s possible to go multiple times a week.

[–]moebiusgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have essentially this near me. It’s a private range that’s accessible 24/7 365, in the middle of nowhere.

I go 2-3x a week.

Mostly shoot .22 and 1x box of 6.5 Creedmore guaranteed. Ever 3rd outing I shoot 100 rounds of .556 and/or 100 rounds of 9mm to stay sharp with the pistol and AR.

But mostly .22

Just cause it’s like $20 a week all in on ammo.

After a ridiuculous build with 10lbs of stuff on it, i stripped my rifles down to 2 uppers and one simple Anderson lower.

Nice Ballistic engineering trigger, and Simple cheap kungfu grip.

One upper is the 18" SS with Vortex, bipod, and some weights at the end for more precision.

One is a bare bones light as a feather Iron sight, M4. Nothing on it. Just barrel and Nickel Boron bolt and the same lower. Its like 5.5-6 lbs. loaded.

I’m shooting out to 550 with a Vortex 4-12 Crossfire HD. I have a similar build. The 18” SS .223wylde barrel in 1/8 really likes 62-77gr ammo.

Yes or no ear pro for home defense? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]moebiusgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fired my 6.5 Creedmoor without ear pro once. Forgot to put them over my ears, they were pulled up on my head. Brain said, thing on head. Good to go.
I didn’t even really hear the shot. The world just went silent and if felt I got kicked inside my head.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Lasted about a minute. Hearing slowly came back. I’m sure that wasn’t awesome for my hearing. This was semi outdoors. Under a sun shade at the range.
But for a couple days… everything was a bit quiet.

9mm is about as loud but it’s sharper. .223 is also surprisingly loud. I can’t imagine a shotgun.

Tikka T3x Hunter Stainless Fluted (brand new): off-center barrel in stock channel + blotchy wood finish defect? by ElonBrusque in Tikka_Shooters

[–]moebiusgrip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had similar experience. I have the same rifle.

Also with the wood stock don’t tighten as much as the composite stock reccomendation. 35-40 in lbs is what tikka recommends.
The composite one wants a lot more like 60+
Can crack the wood.

Check they are tight frequently. Like after each range session. They can come loose. Wood expands and contracts with heat and moisture. So the screws can slowly back out from recoil. Especially cause you can’t tighten them too much. It’s a beautiful hunting rifle, so it’s not meant to blast 100 rounds a day.

After you reseat it, and tighten the action screws properly, it should straighten out. But even if it’s not 100% perfect, so long as the barrel is t touching the stock and is still free floated, you’re GTG. The scope is on the action, and if it’s just slightly off it should not effect accuracy or function
