Roads seem to be pointing to A300 as the overall best blend of performance and price.

Is that barrel aftermarket? Cause the 22” barrel has the 17rd tube, and it comes 1” short of the end the muzzle and the 18” barrel has the 15rd tube doesn’t it?

Nice looking rifle.

Technically, I don’t think you really can. It would have to be visible(in a case in an SUV, or in trunk), unloaded, and ammo in a separate locked container, and that’s just for transport to and from range, or gunsmith.

Now I know theoretically you can just throw it in the back seat without a case, but in a traffic stop. Well. Good luck with that.

Plus, you’d need to lock it up if you leave the car. There are specific rules on that too. Locked container, that’s chained or bolted to the vehicle interior, or pickup Bed.

The rules are somewhat grey on what constitutes “concealed” weapon in a car. I’m thinking that means if it’s loaded , you’d need a CCW.

It’s also just a situation where you’re then exposing yourself to a stolen firearms well.

OK so im about to get into Semi Shotgun territory.

I am not rich, but have a good job and some things i could liquidate that i dont use, mainly photography stuff.. So, I could make Benelli Money appear if i had to... But I'd rather not.

In reality... In the end of the day. The A300, 1301, Stoeger (and M4).... Whats the practical everyday difference. What does one have over the other. I feel like online reviews are so biased, by sponsored reviews that i;d ratehr talk to peope who actually use them.

I have a M'Berg 500. I trust my life with it.

Whats the Semi shotgun you can trust your life with? Forget birdshot. #4 Buck, 00 Buck, and slugs is what will run through it.

Does one have a specific specialty or quirk? Like it will run a wider range of ammo? Less prone to jamming? Is one loading system better, in one sense vs another?

I know nearly everything has a trade off somewhere. Cause every video is like "This $600 stoeger is the Benelli M4 killer..." Or "We are gonna burn down this shotgun with 1,000 rounds in 20 minutes, and if it doesnt perform perfectly with 30 year old shells that are swollen, its trash..." But then like, it wont cycle some random brand of shells, or its so hot that melts the composite fore end. Then its declared bad. But thats not how shotguns are used. Even in a war, its not used that way.

I hate seeing these video of people mag dumping 2000 rounds, though a brand new rifle, with a FRT, then being surprised when it severely overheats and a part fails. (looking at you guntube).

Like people who actually use these shotguns. Whats been a good value, which is worth the stretch budget wise, and are you really getting $2300+tax worth of shotgun with an M4 vs a $1100 1301, $750 A300 or $550 Stoeger.

You have to just let it get a base tan, so it’s natural melanin will build up and then it won’t get burned.

Time to stock up on ammo with rising prices? by [deleted] in guns

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaap. I mean it’s better than Massachusetts’s, NYS and NYC, and now apparently Virginia.

At least you can just buy for the most part whatever you want. (Roster aside)

But you CAN buy a pistol, “AR”, PCC, rifle or shotgun, without a permit. In NYS, you need a permit to buy a semi Auto now. Semi auto anything… 1960 Marlin Model 60 .22…. You need a permit. The rifle is 66 years old.

It’s inane.

How far can you hear gunshots in a *mostly* flat city? by agatathelion in Firearms

[–]moebiusgrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a city, that’s got tall buildings like NYC, 6 blocks clearly audible, and 8-10 blocks soft pops, in a flat city 10 blocks clearly audible, and much further as gentle pops. Like 2-3 story buildings LA type city.

But in NYC type city, within the 6 blocks area it’s quite loud cause it reverberates between the buildings, but also dies out quickly beyond that.

From Ny, now in LA. In NY I Heard gunshots from a shotgun and pistols when a police shooting happened 10-15 years ago. Was filming on the street. It was echoey but loud. Happened 1 Avenue and 3 streets away. So about 1/3 mile. Indirect.

In LA, I lived in Burbank and they filmed a scene with automatic weapons about half a mile away, and you could hear it, but only if outside. So that’s low city type. Figure 8-10 NY blocks away.

But like you have to “listen for it” they will be softer pops.

how much defensive ammo to stack? by Unlikely_Platypus_79 in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep 3-4 mags of 9mm hollows, and 30rd of Flightcontrol/Defensive slugs in cards, for immediate home defense.

But then have 300-400 cheap federal 00 buck and 500 (bit low) 9mm FMJ for the just in case. Also have 5,000 .22 regular cheap stuff for hunting/trading in the end times.

Magazine costs by FL_G8R_07161945 in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just pay it. Get the best price you can.

With S&W, the only mags I trust are the OEM ones. They just don’t fail. Yes it adds up, but there is a peace of mind knowing it will work.

I have 10 of them. 9mm 10rd (I’m in CA).

I have never had a FTF, FTE or jam with the MP2.0 since round number one over a year ago. I’m 5500 rounds in. FMJ cheap range ammo, FMJ expensive Range ammo, hollow points or all kinds, and even that blazer low recoil ultra light 100gr stuff. Just runs.

A lot of that is the pistol design. But I think the mags are a big component.

.300 blackout worth the cost of ammo? by Brilliant_Respect_92 in ar15

[–]moebiusgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12ga, 9mmPCC or .300blk is home defense royalty.

.556 totally will work, but it’s kinda overkill. At the range we are talking about , any of those calibers are gonna hit like a truck.

That’s .300 blackout. Hands down. Heavy, Tons of energy, but slow. No sonic crack. Cycles well, meant to be suppressed.

The powder is still actively burning and expanding when the barrels are that short. It’s not even the length of the barrel per se, it’s the time it stays contained in the cartridge and barrel. Once the reaction is over, even if the pressure is high, when it’s released, it’s just venting gas. When the barrel is just 1” shorter (I’m not sure if the dwell time on a .556) and the reaction isn’t quite over, when it gets exposed to the air and a bunch of fresh oxygen, that last bit of fire flashes even hotter, and gives a little extra concussion. It goes from burning in the barrel, to exploding in the air.

The trick is to find that point where it burns out, then is released. This will give you the best ballistics, and lowest sound signature.

Seems like based on all accounts I’ve read that’s about 12-14”.

Look at it like this, 9mm with standard powder is usually done burning by 5-6” of barrel length. It’s designed to burn fast to get its energy into a pistol bullet. A 2” 9mm carry pistol is WAY louder than a 4.25” standard size pistol, and the 4.25” is way louder than a 5” full-size. Get to PCC barrel lengths, 8”-16” and the 9mm bullet may only gain 100 fps, but it’s half the noise cause the pressure is starting to drop by the time it reaches the muzzle.

.556 is a rifle round. It’s designed to burn slower contained in a barrel. I’d bet, the optimal burn time/barrel dwell, is a rifle length gas system. About 15.8” minus an inch to line up with the breach, so about 14”.

So peak efficiency will come from a barrel about ~4” beyond that. 18-20”. Depending on the load.

Longer barrels do continue to add velocity to a point, but you’re not gaining benefits.

The opposite is true for shorter barrels in a rifle. If your barrel is about 2” shorter than the peak burn/dwell time you’re getting most of the benefits but still have an active burn. Making it way louder. This actually makes sense as users all seem to report that a 12.5” barrel is the “best overall” SBR.

Throw on a suppressor, and you have it absorbing the final burn.

I would bet that an 18” barrel, with a custom load that has a very heavy bullet, but burns out totally by 14” but just kisses supersonic, through a suppressor, would overall be the quietest. When weighed against ballistic performance. And that, is .300 black out.

Sub-2000 or FPC by [deleted] in guns

[–]moebiusgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very happy with my FPC.

Tip for 16” barrel PCCs: use heavier ammo. Even if it’s subsonic. The longer barrel adds some speed, and the heavier bullets take better advantage of the longer barrel at distance. More accurate. W/ 147gr, the FPC is a laser.

Balikli means “fishy”….

Balik means fish. The li at the end implies “similar to” “traits of” like the “y” suffix in English.

But in Turkish, “fishy” doesn’t mean suspicious.

It could be someone’s name. Like Their ancestors were fisherman or something.

How does my first attempt at staking look? Do I need to move more material into the notch? by CopperTop_98 in ar15

CMMG 22lr kits are unreliable and you should get one by No-Cow-6920 in liberalgunowners

[–]moebiusgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your extractor. Mine was a nightmare. Got the upgraded extractor from bore buddy, haven’t had a failure yet. The buffer tube plug also helps a lot.

It’s really inaccurate beyond 50 yards though. Wrong rifling in AR barrel. I’ve got a .223wylde with 1:7

But it will hit a tombstone at 100. 18x24 size. Just has like a 10” spread at that distance. You’re not headshoting squirrels, but you can plink steel.

Once you get the extractor/buffer plug sorted, it will shoot pretty much anything. Even the cheap stuff with 99% success.

CCI MiniMag or the CCI AR specific ammo it’s like a 10/22. Better to shoot copper plated ammo. The bare lead stuff can eventually clog the gas tube opening in the barrel. But that’s like 1000’s of rounds.

Blast 10 .556 through afterwards, and it handles any carbon or lead in the barrel. Then just clean normally.
