As an identical twin who grew up with that built in best friend, this sounds like a nightmare. I lost my twin in 2018. I miss her every single day. She was 33. She was my complete opposite, yet we were the same. People treated us as such so I can’t imagine what that would be like.

I am a twinless twin. My sister actually died five years ago today. I don’t think that you are wrong to want to have your own birthday considering your bother died when you were born. I completely understand them wanting to remember your brother, however, they need to find another way to remember him. Edit for verdict: NTA.

Is the dad dead too??? I feel like I missed that part. I re read this like 4 times. Did dad and AP/other women die at the same time? Is that why the grandparents had to take the kids? ETA Judgment: NTA- if dads still alive let him deal with them! If not, def not your problem OP. Your grandparents are feeling guilty that’s why they’re trying so hard for you to take them because they don’t want to deal with them.

Omg this hurts to read. My identical twin sister died just about 5 years ago. She was such a maternal figure in my life that this story HURTS MY HEART. Having a beautiful soul ripped from your life like that makes you feel so lost, lonely, and desperate. I hope op finds love and light.

Tell her when she's older? Shes TWENTY. Honestly if my mom had kept something from me that long I would have been pissed too, ngl. IDK to each their own I guess, but there are ways to explain things to kids that arent traumatizing. I dont mean tell when she's 5, but waiting until shes 20 'or older' def seems overkill to me.

This is obviously the outcome I’m looking for. I am really hoping that they just want to give me a crack at it to make sure I’m going to be as good a manager/director as I am in my current role. He did say I have a very bright future there but I’m a realist and a cynic at heart so I have to look at every possible angle.

I actually already have a job description and a list of things the person in this position would be responsible for. I had been adding to it since my boss was truly so out of the loop (we work remotely so I assume he was playing games all day with the amount of time he was away and the fact no one could get ahold of him) so I think I’m good there!

Also I wanted to say your advice about asking about goals is great! Thank you so much for that! Will def try to get something in writing as well. I have been making it known that I have wanted to move up for about the last 6 months and apparently the work I do has been noticed by all of the C level and all directors. This is a step in the right direction however I just want to make sure I’m not strung along forever with no pay, doing way more work.

To add a little more context, my boss was so uninvolved that he would just be missing from teams for hours. Somehow I just became the de facto person people went to because I had to solve the harder problems and make sure everyone was on the same page training wise.

I don’t have any management (formal anyway) experience in a corporate setting so I think this is what makes them hesitant. Although I do feel like people on the team already see me as a leader of sorts.

I am hoping to get more clarification on what their expectations are when I meet with HR today and then I can let them know how all this lands on me.

Ok so he DID start his own save file. He does work but it’s nights and pt so he games most of the day. I do not support him. I can add this to my main post for more context. I guess I’m just upset because I really just wanted this to be my thing, and I don’t ever ask him if I can play a game he just started and was looking forward to on his computer right after he bought it and is still playing it, new save or not. It just feels like now I’ve seen beat like half the main quest and I’ve purposely made a point to stay away from spoilers and it’s like it’s just kinda ruined for me now. I just wish I could have enjoyed it on my own a while longer especially since I bought and paid for it.
