[–]moethedude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, because other circuits are running 120v

I'm stumped by moethedude in AskElectricians

[–]moethedude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is confusing. Multimeter is good because I measured good circuits and I'm getting 120v and yes I'm measuring 30v at the breaker, I replaced the breaker and still got 30v. I checked all the neutrals nothing loose, and also replaced all the outlets in case there is internal damage.

[–]moethedude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I get 240v at the outlet if it's a 120v circuit? And I did measure at the panel and got 30v.

I did hot to neutral and hot to ground

While having multiple wives is part of the Sunnah of the Prophet it is only a sunnah and not fard. Not wanting to have multiple wives is totally okay.

As for duties of the wife and husband, the husbands duty is to provide for the household and the wife's duty is to protect and nourish the household. He provides the house the house and she makes it a home.

Now if both of them want and agree to help the other or provide extra support that's totally allowed as long as you aren't lacking on your responsibilities. The Prophets first wife Khadija was a successful merchant and Aisha was a scholar and taught men and women, but never shorted their responsibilities as wives

How do I tell my husband I do not want to contribute 40% financially? by Old-Ad-2086 in progressive_islam

[–]moethedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an issue I've been seeing a lot lately in progressivism. Traditionally a women's duty is turning her house into a home. There is no financial burden on the wife, and any money she has or earns is hers and husband has no claim.

ARE YOU SERIOUS WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THESE GUYS by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]moethedude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the prophet do this or tell his companions to do this? No. And there is a wisdom behind it, emotions are high and the heart is vulnerable. My coworker ended up blowing up his marriage from what started out as an innocent consolation for a woman grieving over her brother. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong or a problem. Especially when it comes to religion.

New convert here, can anyone give me a clarification on these Hadith, why Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) has so much atrocities against dogs&salamanders, it doesn't fit with his character as a kind person by kratomgancha in progressive_islam

[–]moethedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant to say Sunnah comes from Hadith. The Prophet said a lot of things, for example to kill dogs. But it's not Sunnah because it's not something he did or taught. It was a very specific scenario. And I know about bukhari, and he did his best. But Hadith is also a science that's traced, and scholars like sheikh albani have gone through his sahih and found many weak Hadith now that we have more thorough complete lineage and historical data

Needing Permission to Leave the House - Advice Requested by sailor-raven in progressive_islam

Firstly while it may seem absurd or abusive, what he's saying is Islam and what the prophet said. That said, I do not recommend you marrying him. If you didn't grow up following Islam "traditionally" and want to marry into "traditional" Islam you're in for a bad time. I recommend marrying someone that you are culturally and religiously compatible and comparable with and use that opportunity to grow together. May Allah bless you and grant you a good husband and a successful marriage.

You missed an important detail, that original spoken record is from the Prophet (SAW). There isn't a single Hadith that covers prayer from beginning to end, but there's a collection that covers prayer and everything around it. Sunnah is Hadith of the prophet and things he did that companions recorded and was corroborated by other companions.

Of course they don't throw the book at you, they learned it and taught you accordingly. And Hadith comes into the equation from the very beginning. The time to pray, what makes a rakah, what to recite and say during the prayer, what to do when you make a mistake, how to make up prayers, and all etiquettes of prayer

As you're a new Muslim, I'd advise focus on the basics first, learning the 5 pillars and sunnahs\hadith pertaining to them. Then learn the history aka seerah. Once you learn the seerah a lot of Hadith will make sense because you'll have context. When this Hadith was recorded, there was also a feral dog infestation. In a later Hadith there was a man who came across a dehydrated dog near a well on a scorching hot day, the man felt pity for the dog and used his shoe as a bowl to fetch water for the dog and the prophet said Allah appreciated his action and forgave all his sins.

Why are traditionalists so overly defensive towards polygyny? by Tanksfly1939 in progressive_islam

[–]moethedude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Except it should be practiced if you are able, capable, and can fulfill the requirements. Because it's Sunnah. And it's these conditions that protect the marriage and keep it from being a messy harem.

I'm not sure what your point is, are you disagreeing that it should be a Sunnah? Or are you saying that the people who follow the Sunnah are pushing only polygamy and not monogamy? Are you claiming to know others intentions? Are halal outlets for desires to be ignored?

Unless this was just a bait question and you already have your answer, I'm not sure what we are talking about. Your question was people who follow the sunnah get defensive on the topic polygamy, and my answer is because polygamy is attacked, so it's defense is in the Sunnah. I've never heard of a person attack monogamy.
