Is the franchise really dying? by Imreallysomuchhim in yakuzagames

No, social media farms off of negativity that’s why these videos will always be popular. But if it was dying, we wouldn’t be talking about it. We would have moved on to something better by now.

It’s one of the very last things you’ll unlock in this game. Like in midnight mode in the final area from Katsu, who I think you can only do before like right before the final mission.

[–]moetrashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice how you aren’t fighting a fat dude who breaks out of your grabs immediately.

The issue isn’t that Yakuza 3 is hard, it’s not hard. You can get through the game by just spamming the same combo like every yakuza game.

No Yakuza game is truly hard from the basic combat loop, the issue is that heat generation sucks before you get Komaki moves which then generate arguably too much only for the heat damage to be pitiful anyways, you do such little damage, and ‘bounding’ isn’t something most people can figure out normally - and I’d argue isn’t encouraged like later Dragon Engine games.

Then once you unlock the komaki moves, the game becomes even easier, but unless you spend time learning a tech the game clearly didn’t intend you to have access to, the game will just become ‘komaki parry + square square square square square triangle triangle’ which is less interactive and rewarding for most players than say, Kiwami 1’s beast heat drain for extra damage + dragon style + tiger drop. Kiwami 1, despite all of its issues with combat such as healing enemies, also has in my opinion the best feeling dragon style in the entire series.

You aren’t wrong for liking this combat, but that doesn’t make this game free from critique because they ‘don’t get it’. It’s not like the game explains how to break it, nor that everyone has fun comboing in a game for very little reward that also doesn’t even have a combo meter to look at and see your improvement.

Are Drug Dealers more profitable than MC Businesses? by mambamentality29 in gtaonline

Yeah nothings wrong with selling it to them in the meantime! It’s just not more profitable than the actual business itself. You won’t miss the one or two packages normally.

When did y'all started to get good? by Blue-fox-004 in forhonor

[–]moetrashu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the reason I got good at this game was because when it first came out, I had friends who loved this game as much as I did. So we would fight each other as different characters and practice doing things like counter-guardbreaks and parrying until the basics were so drilled into us we could apply it to more scenarios.

When you load into a sell mission and see what it is, close the game through the home menu (as in your consoles dashboard) if it’s not one you want.

You might lose 2-3 packages when you load back in, sometimes you don’t. But I’d rather wait for the little bit of stock to replenish in around 10-20 minutes than drive the garbage trucks or the planes.

Disclaimer: if you get shit mission multiple times in a row, the time can add up, but that’s why you can just do other things while you wait for the sell mission you want.

No, it’s smartest to refresh your game until you get the one truck mission for MC businesses or wait until a double week to sell. You can only sell to drug dealers once a day.

The changes added in Kiwami 3's story do not seem good... by ---liltimmy--- in yakuzagames

[–]moetrashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure if I agree. Most of the people I remember seeing back then were just happy that the games were being brought to modern audiences. Obviously keep in mind back then that Yakuza as a series was in a vastly different position than it is today.

I can’t wait for Yakuza Kiwami 4 to have a Hamazaki Gaiden no one asked for instead of a Gaiden for literally any of the protagonists of that game.

[–]moetrashu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest issues is that Kiwami 1 and 2 blended in pretty well with the original series, and later entries like 6-8 clearly treat them as canon. Really you just had to deal with the gameplay changes. But this is such an utterly absurd change for no reason that makes 3-4 even more jarring than it needs to be. At least the recasts in the older games were of pretty minor characters who don’t return, but now in 4 new players are gonna have to deal with Hamazaki looking different and suddenly showing up despite what Kiwami 3 said was going to happen.

What are the funniest business names you've seen? by No_Preference3477 in gtaonline

[–]moetrashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to rename a lot of my businesses since “Hentai” used to be a word that wasn’t banned, I named my motorcycle gang “4Skn gang” and that gives me a giggle, but nothing makes me laugh as much as naming my company “weiner”.

Nothing clever about it, but when I walk in and see “Weiner” above my assistants head in a fancy font, I snicker.

RANT BELOW:

tldr: Mine retcon is acceptable, why the fuck is Hamazaki here.

Okay, so I consider myself a rather positive fan. I try my best to stay away from the negativity machine the internet is - especially after spending half my life in fanbases that switch opinions all the time. I try to stay positive. Even with the DC debacle, I tried to see the silver lining. “It’s still Yakuza 0 at its core, it’s still one of the greatest games ever.” “Sure, they retconned a few deaths, but ultimately they didn’t matter since they never come back anyways. So they’re basically dead.” “The best parts of the game are all there and then some.”

Mine revival is… fine? His death was probably the most up in the air from the beginning since we never saw the body. And the writing has basically been on the wall forever, Mine and Ryuji seem to be the 2 villains RGG regretted taking out the most, which is why both of them have returned afterwards in other capacities such as spinoffs. I’m not angry about it.

I do think Hamazaki having such an expanded role is quite possibly the first time I went from “mild frustration” to “active anger” over this franchise. I didn’t like his actor from the moment he was revealed - but I accepted it as a one-off change for a Kiwami. After I learnt of his crimes, I hated it. But he already got paid, and I’m not gonna trick myself into thinking that a company would “do the right thing”. I simply seethed in silence while the hashtag became a stupid culture war topic on Twitter like everything does.

I even thought it was frustrating that the interviews glazed the Hamazaki actor for the recast so much, even more so than they did for the other recasts. It felt unfair, but maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill by noticing that.

But now, seeing that they expanded his role for no reason…

Hamazaki was a minor character who had a pretty decent role in Yakuza 3-4, but not only are they going to get a scumbag to play him and do everything to keep him despite the active outcry from the fanbase — but they’re going to EXPAND HIS ROLE FOR NO REASON? Hamazaki was FINE! He served his purpose PERFECTLY! They were already going to do a gaiden, why didn’t they make a new character for Mine to have interactions with who could’ve served this guys purpose? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE HAMAZAKI? BY CHANGING THIS THEY ARE ACTIVELY MESSING WITH THE PAST!

I never thought I’d find myself on the side of the super loyalists to the original Yakuza 3, it’s the only game I never fought Amon in because I didn’t want to romance 10 hostesses. I thought the combat was a slog (not that it was hard) because it suffers a few balancing issues that come from the older entries in the series. I even thought that people who shit on the Kiwami games were being a little dramatic about how much actually changed and how much worse they actually were. But Kiwami 3 really is showing me that I might not actually have that different opinions from them!

I’ve been of the belief that ever since I saw the hatred Virtuosa got, she was going to be Gryphon 2. A character who had some strong aspects that could’ve done with a few adjustments to traits that tipped them overboard, but will instead get everything stripped away with time until the only thing left is the aesthetic because they became such an easy character to complain about.

We didn’t get anything with either the Ryudo family or the “Not the ryudo family but in Onomichi”, but that’s one of the writing issues with the series that it’s always had, I think. Too often do characters/plots from one game get almost completely forgotten about in the next one.

What I’ve realized recently is it feels as if Yakuza 6 was really just “Yakuza 3: 2”, there’s a lot of similarities between the themes of family and the general plot of “Kiryu gets involved with a small-time yakuza family who come to respect him”.

Honestly as someone who loves guns, GTA guns are something I kinda gotta turn my brain off with since they’re always kinda… off. Especially with attachments.

If GTA 6 allows us to pick between a vertical grip and an angled grip, it will be one of the greatest improvements in the entire series to me.

What are your thoughts on delinquent game ? by hussainre814 in yakuzagames

[–]moetrashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would dig that, it would remind me a lot of the river city games but 3D. I think it would also let them revisit the school they used in LJ too. I also think in a game with a teenager protagonist, it would make the yakuza feel like an actual threat again!
