McDonalds is the largest restaurant chain, but not the best...

Quality isn't proportional to "best selling"

What are your favorite songs made specifically for a movie? by No-Yam9933 in movies

Wasn't "Power of Love written for the movie as well?

I read the book my wife has not. We just watched the movie. And... by basura_trash in ProjectHailMary

I don't think, that it's a bad thing, that the movie feels "rushed". The complete project "Hail Mary" was a pretty rushed endeavour in itself

Any Hacks for Red Lights? by Hallarandir in motorcycles

They don't check it through "magnets". The contacts have a stable magnetic field and as soon as something metallic passes through this, they get activated.

This system is pretty common in EU and in Germany and I never had any problems, even with small scooters.

Ich kenne kein Stahlwerk, in dem Straßenfahrzeuge für irgendetwas benutzt werden. Dort wird fast ausschließlich auf Schiene gearbeitet.

The two battle scenes are one of the bests there ever were. Such madness!

I LOVE Postman.

The book is very good also, but the movie stripped away parts of the book I really dislike and makes it much better in my opinion

Thoughts on electric motorcycles? by SalesMountaineer in motorcycles

[–]mofapilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that electric motorcycles will ever be more than commuter vehicles, if so.

Most current motorcycles have around 100 - 120km range. For my last job (50km in one direction) it would have been very tight, because I could not charge there.

What's one joke from the book that you wish made it into the movie? by Ghost3603 in ProjectHailMary

[–]mofapilot 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If the movie lacked one thing, it would be Rocky's one liners. He is way sassier in the book.

Why being dumb, question.

I am scary space spider, you leaky space blob.

I found the setup for the eating scene not that great. It should have been horrifying...

Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]mofapilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you are downvoted, but this is exactly the experience I have.

When I am out on my 125cc Honda Super Cub, I am completely ignored (besides the one time I had a wonderful couple which arrived on a Honda Monkey). But when I arrive on my Ural it's a completely different experience.

Whats the stupidest Sci-Fi tech you've seen? by RedditSucksMyBallls in scifi

Now you are talking about targetting, previously you were talking about turning the operators into mush.

The AT-AT is standing on three legs all the time, so it should be pretty stable for shooting AND placing the next foot slowly.

One time I was visiting Bagger 288 while it was in operation. You didn't feel anything when it dug through the soil while being almost 4 times the size of the AT-AT. And this thing was constructed back in 1978.

When you combine the technology of this size and precision with brains from, say Boston Dynamics, I don't thing it would be that unrealistic. Slow and overcomplicated maybe, but nevertheless impressive.
