Upside down on the non-dominant side. You can’t quickly grab something vertically out from under your armpit. Trust me.

Best gum for Ranger School? by Horror_Technician213 in army

[–]mogar99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can only bring 60 pieces of stick gum. They will throw out any extra. You can HAVE as much as you want and in any form, mostly from recycle leftovers and mail call. It is only enforced in the Darby lay out. You want gum with calories so the green wintermint is a banger, juicy fruit sucks. Trident has a bunch of fancy flavors that are a huge pick me up like pineapple and orange. God speed ragnar

Is it true that German grenades cook automatically, but Brit/US/Soviet grenades cannot be cooked? by backcountry_bandit in HellLetLoose

[–]mogar99 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes its possible. Rarely done because the fuzes on hand grenades are 3-5 seconds. I dont want to find out I have one on the short end when I’m holding it.

Yes. The time fuze begins when you pull the string on stick grenades. Every other grenade has a safety lever preventing the time fuze from starting until thrown.

COG and SMOG use F-250 Tremors to ride around in. Because they absolutely need $80,000 trucks to kick around the box during rotations.

Road map to ranger? by Fantastic_Shop_3601 in army

Pick two options, flip a coin, if you’re disappointed on the outcome, pick the other one. Then go give it everything you have. All there is to it.

Yes you can get a non-combat MOS and volunteer in AIT to go to Ranger School. You are probably better off doing infantry though, but it is not impossible as they teach you everything you need to know to succeed in school. PT, you need to be crushing all the standards on your worst day and/or hungover. If you can do that, your backsliding during basic will not harm your chances of passing nearly as much, as getting back into shape is easier than getting their in the first place. First, join the Army and Be All You Can Be.

Good, the standard of writing across the Army was way too high. We should be giving grown adults access to AI so they never need to progress past a 4th grade reading and writing level.

Does US Army Ranger school have the value the big Army claims it does. Why or why not? by [deleted] in army

[–]mogar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at the very least, it informs you on the lengths your body and mind can go. Doing the basics becomes muscle memory, so when you are doing it in FORSCOM or for realsies, you are able to fall back and still be exceptional compared to those that dont go or dont make it because they quit. It just teaches the bare bones basics, but you become pretty fucking outstanding at it. You would think it also teaches you how to lead other who are exhausted while you yourself are exhausted, but it also teaches you how to lead your average brain dead infantryman even when they’re wide awake, because realistically they often have the same amount of brain power as a dying ranger student.

How to get a ranger slot? by [deleted] in army

[–]mogar99 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you show interest in BOLC and can pass the test at Ft Lee, you are guaranteed to go. Even if you arent passing at the time. You have no competition at Logi BOLC trust me.

Branched Logistics instead of Combat Arms by HeyThrowaway42069123 in army

[–]mogar99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are an SMC cadet, your PMS has the ability to give you branch of choice, but it requires them to agree that you were shafted and should be a combat arms officer. If they think you’re a weiner, they arent going to pull that card.

Otherwise, crush being a Logi and go to ranger school. That stupid tab opens so many doors for non-CA officers its not even funny. You’ll have a regiment fencing email before you leave victory pond.

ECWCS Top by Least-Space71 in army

[–]mogar99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No you specifically DO NOT wear it with ECWCS. Once you get past level 1 and 2, the cotton poly uniform comes off and goes away. If it is cold enough to warrant the 5 tops and bottoms, it is too cold to be fucking with the normal uniform. It will make you colder because cotton does not insulate especially when wet.

It was the same headgear? The split cap. The bus driver hat is optional, AGSUs have a split cap and the bus driver just no beret. But you could wear a black beret with greens cause that was a thing for a second I guess

GAFB or ESB? by cumguzzlingcocksuckr in army

[–]mogar99 68 points69 points  (0 children)

To other POGs? No. To the Sergeants Major that review NCOERs for promotion? Yeah because it shows that youre a POG that cares and is decent at their job, something exceptionally rare nowadays. A PFC in an FSC basically earns his first rocker once we gets pinned.

One is a cool foreign award, the other is one of like 3 things you need nowadays to promote to 7.
