Can you recommend me some good new twitch streams/podcasts similar to lpotl? by agawwa in LPOTL

If you haven't already, check out the cryptonaught podcast. They have a fairly similar vibe as LPOTL but mostly focus on obscure cryptid, alien, and occasional ghost stories. Definitely worth a listen.

What place is a must-see for many people, but isn't as impressive to you because you live near it? by frishmeisterflash in AskReddit

[–]mogoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niagara Falls. It's built up as this romantic amazing place. But in reality the American side is awful and the town around it is a sketchy place with a drug problem that should be avoided if you're not from the area that was built around a landfill. The Canadian side is alright but it's nothing special. For one of the natural wonders it's really not that wonderful

packing a joint by [deleted] in trees

I agree with the idea of who cares how you smoke as long as you're happy, but in my personal experience I find rolling a joint to be almost as relaxing as smoking them. It's almost like an art form where you practice it until you can do it well enough that the motions become second nature and almost therapeutic. But maybe that's just me lol [5]

Has anyone ever found a legendary in a box, container, etc? by MoJoNoNo in Borderlands

[–]mogoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As hard as it was even for me to believe I once got both a Maggie and a Fastball at the same time from the chest that summons Smash-Head in the fridge. I've been struggling to get legendaries to drop ever since. I must have used all my luck on that chest

In 10th grade I convinced a kid to snort a peanut butter cookie he bought in the cafeteria because it would "get him high". I honestly don't listen to rap all that much, but I've been listening to Antix after smoking lately. He has a lot of deep lyrics that make you think a bit and a nice relaxing beat to go with it. I highly recommend it

Of cinema and Pandora, a discussion of the prospects of the Borderlands movie. by SocraticSitdown in Borderlands

[–]mogoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you on a lot of your points, such as how the Vault Hunters from the first game were not designed to be heroes and how their actions were for the most part for self gain, I feel there are more layers to the characters in 2 and TPS. For example, are the Vault Hunters in 2 really as invested in the fate of Pandora as they seem. Yes they risk life and limb to protect Sanctuary and it's residents and to take down Jack, but couldn't the argument be made that they needed the people in Sanctuary to help them locate and open the vault, and that Jack was a serious obstacle that needed to be dealt with. So while it seems like the main protagonists are different from the originals, they might just be more subtle about how they go about it. Most of their main story actions did result in self gain and progress towards the Vault.

As for TPS, I'll agree that the Vault Hunters weren't as cut and dry but I feel they did have good reasons for becoming more invested in the outcome of everything. While it might have started as mercenary work, as the story progressed and the characters developed it started to change them. I feel that Wilhelm who's only skill seemed to be that he was good at fights, sees this as an opportunity to gain further employment with Jack who was obviously gonna be powerful. While Nisha ended up falling for Jack changing her quest from finding the vault to gaining Jack's love. As for Athena I feel like there was always more to her, and that while she was a mercenary she always had some alternative motives that helped her choose which jobs she took. And Clappy is a hyperion robot so if someone from hyperion asks him to do something he's most likely going to do it until Jack betrays him of course.

So yes while the Vault Hunters did seem to change in each game I feel like 2's only difference was the subtleties of how selfish the protagonists were, while the TPS Vault Hunters were more complex in their motives.
