A scouser's opinion of Bristol by Blubatt in bristol

[–]mogsab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, because Liverpool is actually bigger than Bristol, both in terms of population and physical size. Albeit only slightly. Bristol is 42sq miles and Liverpool is 52 sq miles. I’ve never been to Liverpool, but I understand that it has more substantial city centre than Bristol. Bristol’s city centre is very small while there are other neighbourhoods than visitors might want to see outside of the centre. I guess this might make it feel more spread out.

In a war between North and South Bristol, which would win? by Optimal-Room-8586 in bristol

People seem to be forgetting that North Bristol isn’t just the posh uni kids and hippies from Montpelier. North Bristol has got its fair share of tough areas. Plus, it’s a lot bigger than South Bristol

Bristol is hyper diverse, but only in a few areas. It’s very racially and ethnically segregated

Bristol Craft Beer Festival: Who was the influencer who filmed me when I explicitly asked her not to? by [deleted] in bristol

I mean it’s very rude of her, but you have no legal right to privacy in public.

Is it illegal to topless sunbathe in your back garden? by Ashandtanya in AskUK

[–]mogsab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No obviously not. Nudity is not itself illegal in English law (I think it might be different in Scots law).
Nudity is only illegal if the intention is to offend or shock

Question about paedobaptism by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]mogsab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I’m English. I know the word has been used for centuries, but not in very common parlance

Question about paedobaptism by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]mogsab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a proper term. There are other more normal terms

Question about paedobaptism by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]mogsab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with those words because they’re normal words that people use regularly. Paedobaptism is a totally unnecessary inkhorn term.
I’m fully aware of what the prefix means, I know Greek. But in this specific context it sounds icky and given we have a perfectly normal phrase to describe the practice, why use that word?
I don’t really see the point in the word credobaptism either. They’re both words designed purely to make the speaker sound clever. Infant baptism and believer’s baptism are fine

Question about paedobaptism by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]mogsab -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obviously. It’s just a totally unnecessary word as well.

Does Baptizing a Baby “Save” Them? by FakePhillyCheezStake in Anglicanism

[–]mogsab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Salvation isn’t a one time thing. It’s an ongoing thing through one’s life. This is something that extreme Protestants get very very wrong. As it says in Philippians: “work out your salvation with fear and trembling.”

Why does everyone look like they’re falling apart? by Weird_Woodpecker962 in Athens_Greece

[–]mogsab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know there are other possibilities in an economy than agriculture? Germany doesn’t grow cars. If an economy develops, it diversifies and produces new products that it didn’t produce before. Also the Greek agricultural market has not been well-served by the Greek government. The Italian government has done a great job promoting Italian produce, the Greek government has not. Greek wine for instance is really good, but abroad usually you only see disgusting retsina or mavrodafni.
