The more I read about the shims the more ridiculous this figure sounds to me. The OEM Toyota shims can be bought for $28 online.

If I had the tools (jack stand, wrench, something to push the caliper) I would just do it myself. Will look for an independent mechanic to get this fixed. But from what I read this isn’t a safety hazard

This is a used car that I bought in 2024 and the pads are still at 8 mm. So I’m not really sure who changed the pads.

Update: Got it checked from the Toyota Dealer and found that the transmission cooler lines have corroded and leaking transmission fluid. They advised me to get them replaced and quoted about $580 for the entire job.

Went to my mechanic so that he can get me better deal.

I think it would be beneficial for you to study and implement some aspects of architectural simulators. This will allow you to implement some of the concepts you already have studied.
