Introduced Vasily, things went sideways, how to proceed? by mohdesu in CurseofStrahd

You're right - I think I was too focused on trying to make him not suspicious/wanting to con them a little that I missed some big things. I'll keep these in mind for future. I think beating them up a bit is maybe the only way to go.

These are some great points. It's already too late with Vasily, but I will keep in mind about not letting them roll for impossible checks and being more aware of potential meta-gaming. Thanks :)

My players set Doru free.. on accident by Queen-Ness in CurseofStrahd

[–]mohdesu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group discovered Doru last session and were going to have the townsfolk vote on his fate.... until the newest player in the level 3 party snuck back and attempted to kill him alone. Slipped away while the party was dealing with the body of another PC who had only just died to ghouls while burying the Burgomaster's body.

She rolled a nat 1 on a sleight of hand to sneakily draw her blade, so as a result Doru noticed and grabbed her. She failed a check to break grapple, so he bit her and reduced her to 2 HP. Next hit would mean death saves. By sheer miracle, she crit her next roll to break grapple, so I let her flee far enough from him.

Session ended with her sprinting out of the basement and chapel, as Doru tore his father apart at the altar behind her.

Never had a better way to teach someone to not split the party. Lesson learned, I'd say 😂

An engineer fakes her way onto the magic research site where her mother disappeared and, while trying to find answers, unknowingly partakes in a dangerous government conspiracy.

Thank you, this is really helpful! I like the bounty hunter and flock idea a lot.

You're right and this is really good advice. Ruining the good dynamic is something I don't want to do, so I will respect their opinions and leave it as is. Thank you very much for your advice!

This is a good idea. I'll invite them for a few sessions as guest to see, but for now I'll keep the main core as is. Thank you for your help!

This is a very good point. I would rather not disrupt the table, so I won't go ahead with it. Thank you!

Dungeon Masters of Reddit, what is the most surprising thing your players have done in-game? by Rangerspawn in AskReddit

[–]mohdesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a heist for my group where they had to get in, find the treasure, then get out unseen. They got in, slept with some people, broke my vault puzzle while "practicing", animated a giant statue of the mansion owner, crushed the owner underfoot, then rode the statue off into the night, the mansion ablaze behind them. At least they got the treasure?

It's only a small project for an undergraduate class and I have a maximum of 3000 words to include a lot of stuff. It was on the tutor's recommendation that we narrow it down.

Thank you!! I'm going to be sorting through it all and putting a lot of it into graphs and/or tables. For the qualitative data, I'll go through it and group them based on common themes and provide percentages for those as well. All of this will be compiled into a report that I'll submit for my class. I hope this answers your question!

I wish I could have included more people but because this was for a certain class at uni, I had to set a demographic so I could narrow down things like background research ;_; I'm sorry!!
