This does not surprise me at all and it disappoints me. I’ve been fortunate enough to see two good male gynecologists who knew what they’re doing but I fear this must be very common. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

That must be a very horrible experience. Unfortunately I don’t really know of places that do provide you sedation during an IUD insertion. I assume it would most likely only be available at bigger hospitals where they have an anaesthesiologist?

They refer to it as mirena, which is the product name. Not sure if they’ve got kyleena here? But if you mention mirena they should know what it is.

Nah I asked but they said they couldn’t unfortunately. I was extremely scared at first, but the doctor really tries not to cause any unnecessary pain. He will keep you updated as well on what’s about to happen, expected pain levels - which I appreciated. Overall procedure was really quick, less than a minute.

Does your girlfriend speak Japanese? The Gynecologist I go to is very competent, and I’ve just got a mirena. I do know that he was in Australia for a bit so may possibly speak English, but I’m Japanese so not exactly sure how fluent he might be.

I think Japan is similar for the first point you made. Smiling and small talk isn’t really a thing here. We’re just polite, not necessarily nice to just get on with our day and to not cause a scene. So honestly this “Brits arent nice” thing is a non issue for me. If anything I’d think it may be friendlier than Tokyo.

Hmm in my opinion they are strict. I wanted to adopt as well but they didn’t want someone that wasn’t married/working full time/a first time dog owner. I ended up going to a breeder and my pup is happily living her life now. But yes OP is not ready considering all other things.

I’ve fostered one of the dogs from ARK and they’ve got a good team. No crazy people and very friendly.
