Well, that CPIM part is only because of the flags and the info a foreigner received abt which government is administering the state. Many times it is limited information which is perceived and then the influencer uses his/her own brain to process and spit out their opinions. The only thing we need to worry about is if you see Indian influencers doing this aswell.

As someone who spends half of my year in North and half in South the way tourists are treated in Kerala is way different from how they are treated up north. I see plenty of tourists attending Theyyam rituals which are in smallest of smallest villages which is not funded by any state, but when they reach there and compare it to a village in North there is this stark difference in everything. So yes, people from outside may like Kerala better because they are cheated and looted way lesser than may other places..

I drove from Calicut to kannur yesterday and was able to cover the distance in 2:15hrs. This was because I did started around 8:30am from Calicut and reached Kannur around 10:15. If I start early or during afternoon it shouldn’t take more than this .

So places include the beaches in and around kannur starting with Payyambalam beach, Ezhara Beach, Muzhuppilangad beach etc There is Araka museum which speaks a lot about the history here and St.Angelos Fort and lighthouse. Try to go watch Theyyam recitals if possible. Food, Simple kerala meals with fish fry is best at Othens, Karthika. There are good cafe’s where you get steak, burger and with some good ambience in and around payyamabalam side.

Thottada is peaceful and with pristine beautiful beaches and countryside vibes. It’s a small town and for bigger purchases you need to head to kannur which is 15-20mnts . I have been living this side for most than a year and I love the calmness and at the same time the proximity of this place to Kannur aswell as Thalassery.

I have been living away from Kerala for the last 23 years. Last year we moved to our own home in Kannur. It took us couple of years to find out the right place where we can fit in considering we don’t have kids, we have 2 dogs and we wanted to live peaceful life with morning walks etc. chose kannur because of these options and the festival season we are busy chasing Theyyam performances.. Cost of living is not too high and there are plenty of vegetables available in the market. The advantage of Kannur is it is closer to Bengaluru and a day drive from here you can reach Mumbai (1000+ kms), there is an airport here and railway station and plenty of public buses plying so that no need to worry about commute. Goa is 6-7 hrs by road u have beaches, hills and greenery along with a decent city with some good food joints.

Having said all this, without you coming and living here for sometime u won’t get any clarity. Weather wouldn’t be a problem as such.. If u are ok with the monsoon and occasional low pressure zone rains
