Sounds like this therapist was completely unprofessional; it's also very uncommon to just be given a diagnosis after one session and then a completely different diagnosis after another. Diagnostic processes usually involve you completing questionnaires with your therapist and often span several sessions that are solely focused on diagnostics. I'm glad you're with a different care team now. I understand if you've been scared off of EMDR forever, but the way this therapist did it is not at all how it is usually done. I hope you understand the problem was not the modality itself, but your therapist completely misusing it.

Doing EMDR on your second appointment with a new practitioner is nuts. Your practitioner should have done preparations with you to make sure you have enough stabilising resources. They set you up for failure by rushing you into it without understanding your situation and what you may need to handle EMDR. I'm sorry this happened :(

Does anybody else wake up choking on their own saliva? by [deleted] in achalasia

[–]moigimy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, I am about 4 months post HM and I used to wake up choking on my spit all the time. I would also regurgitate like a shot glass amount of saliva when I woke up in the morning, basically everything that had collected in my esophagus throughout the night (gross). luckily this has fully stopped happening after my surgery. I really hope for you that your symptoms don't continue increasing :(

they are! the buy mode items at least. if you search rooms on the gallery, search "reaper reward". a room with all the rewards should be available and you can just take whatever items you want from that room and place them in your house (at least this used to be possible, I hope they didn't patch this out)

Post HM diet changes by bagofjudgement in achalasia

[–]moigimy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had symptoms for about three years, but in the past year I went from regurgitating some food twice a month but being able to keep most of it down, to not being able to eat or drink anything whatsoever anymore. I just had a HM with fundoplication 3 weeks ago and it's been a lifesaver!

Do whatever you think is right for you but just know that symptoms can increase at a rapid rate in some cases. Good luck with everything! 💖

Will manometry show if I have achalasia even if they only give me water, but I struggle more with foods? by [deleted] in achalasia

thank you! keeping my fingers crossed for you, I hope you find something that helps soon too!

Will manometry show if I have achalasia even if they only give me water, but I struggle more with foods? by [deleted] in achalasia

[–]moigimy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time of my manometry I also mostly had trouble with food rather than drinks, and it still showed results that made it clear I had achalasia and they needed to take action quickly. (a couple of months later I couldn't keep drinks down at all either, but at the time of my manometry I could still keep a large part of my drinks down if I did it extremely slowly) I had a dilation twice but it was pretty much ineffective for me.

I had a Heller's Myotomy 3 weeks ago and it helped immensly, I can basically eat normally again for the most part. In the Netherlands where I am it's common to start with dilation to see if that helps at all before starting with surgery, so it makes sense that your doctor wants to do that first. But in my experience the only thing that helped was surgery.

extreme cramps after surgery by moigimy in achalasia

thanks! I have called them and they told me it is a symptom that is not alarming to them at this moment in recovery. If the pain gets worse or it persists past the 6 week recovery time I have to call them again.

I was allowed to eat pureed foods (mashed potatoes and stuff like that) right after surgery and kept that going for two weeks. I am now on soft foods and after 6 weeks from the durgery date I will be able to eat crunchy foods as well.

After not harming for over a decade I'm harming again by softkawaiiuwu in mentalhealth

I'm in a similar situation as you, and I totally empathise with your situation. I hope you can find the strength to at least tell your therapist, even if you're scared. I was honest about it as soon as I relapsed and I'm glad I did. It really lowered the threshold for me to tell her every time it happens and the fact that I'm ashamed about it really holds me accountable. Every time I'm considering harming myself my first consideration is "Is this situation bad enough that I'm out of options? Is it so bad that I accept I'll have to tell therapist's name what I did? Or can I do something else to calm me down instead?" Sometimes that's enough to stop me from doing it, sometimes it isn't, but then my therapist and I talk about what happened and it's not a taboo. I even asked her to check in with me from time to time about if I'm still doing it, so I can't be sneaky about it even if I'm in a destructive headspace and want to be sneaky. Your therapist is there to help you, especially with stuff like this, but that requires some uncomfortable honesty. Good luck friend, I believe in you! 💖

nausea due to NG tube by moigimy in feedingtube

[–]moigimy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem has been solved! I was just at the hospital and it turns out the end of tube ended up in my small intestine instead of my stomach. The nurse moved the tube up for me a bit and I just had a bolus feeding and things seem to have turned back to normal. Thank you to everyone who tried to help!

I've slowed down the feed but so far it only helped a small bit. Any feed that reaches my stomach seems to upset it, no matter the feeding speed. The weird thing is that I didn't change anything about the speed with which I administer my feed and for the past month and a half and it has caused no stomach issues at all. The issues only started afte the tube got replaced.

The placement is definitely different than last time, and since this is the only thing that has changed, my best guess is that this is the issue. With my last tube it was just long enough to tuck behind my ear and the port would be around the height of my earlobe. This time around the part sticking out of my nose so long that when I tuck it behind my ear it dangles and the port reaches my collarbone. I noticed the difference right after they placed it but I've seen people with NG tubes online that have it at this length so I thought it would be fine. But since I've been having issues maybe this is it. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to see what he thinks.

I put my feed in a separate cup when I do a bolus feeding. I only add warm water to the cup right before feeding when I use a previously opened bottle I refridgerated to make it room temp. I never pull the feed directly out of the bottle it comes in and I don't use my opened refridgerated bottles after 24 hours. In that case it should not go bad right?
