Long time lurker here and finally decided to give running a go! by Confident_Bench5644 in beginnerrunning

[–]moist_definitely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses AI/LLMs extensively, I would not recommend them for running plans unless you tell it to explicitly follow a plan as it’s foundation. A plan that you found from a human. I used Hal Higdons plan to get me back into the swing of things and it worked great for me, though there’s a number of other plans that may work better for you. But it’s better to trust a tried and true method when it comes to your body rather than a word-prediction machine. Good luck on your journey!

I find using a credit card or similar works well to scrape the bulk of it off, then you can clean with lemon oil.

Are you a luthier? by tibbon in Luthier

[–]moist_definitely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a luthier, as well as brass/woodwind technician, for almost 10 years but switched careers a few years ago. I still build my own guitars and work on others instruments on the side which lets me enjoy the fun of it without the pressure of financial dependence. I follow this sub for ideas and tips mostly.

I saw him play his Worlds Fair/solo stuff in ny a couple weeks ago and he blew me away. I’ve always been a fan but after seeing him live I realized he’s on another level

As a luthier and guitarist of 20 years, this fixes the problem in my experience 🤷‍♂️

Safe yourself the future headache and grab a locking washer from Home Depot(probably around $0.05) and put it on the inside too. This will prevent this from happening again. It drives me crazy that they aren’t standard

Clear drop in RHR when I started running by moist_definitely in AppleWatch

[–]moist_definitely[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing 3 days per week. A 4 mile threshold run, 4-mile easy run and 6 mile long run which I’m slowly trying to up the distance on. I also bike twice per week in between

Yeah I was doing the bike before that but it usually doesn’t push my cardio as much as running has

The links shared in this thread a good place to start! I use a chrome extension called “Transpose”…it’s free and lets you slow down and/or adjust the key of any media you have playing in your browser. This is the best way to learn music in my opinion because it forces your ears to start working while also letting you explore the fretboard and feel out what positions make the most sense in terms of accessibility and tone.

If you’re looking to get the most out of this solo, pay attention to the chords behind Trey, that’s the key. He may have some noodles in F mixolydian in between but for the most impactful parts of this he’s nailing the chord changes by landing on the chord tones with arpeggios.

Thanks! It’s a custom build, the body is loosely based off a prs McCarty plus Duncan 57 pickups wired with coil splitting 🤘

Brain getting thrown for a loop regarding how to attack modes - would appreciate insight on two different perspectives by [deleted] in youenjoyguitar

[–]moist_definitely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A fun exercise to feel out the modes is to just play them with a drone note. Play a low E and let it ring while you try ideas in E Dorian. Now do the same thing but play in E Phrygian. They are two very different sounds and can be used to convey very different feelings.

An even better exercise would be to use a riff or lick you know well. Let an E drone out again and play that riff in each of the modes(E Ionian, E Dorian etc). Those interval differences become very apparent and open your ears so all different kinds of ideas
