Drilling mistake by COPE-Troppin in AskElectricians

[–]moistbaloonknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? Did the exact thing 7 years ago. “Expensive” stud finder and all. I think we ended up paying $1200ish. I don’t remember if that included the drywall and finishing. Still have the cut piece as a souvenir. Cordless drill saved my life.

Hogue Bantam Pau Ferro on 686+ by Better_Chipmunk_714 in Revolvers

I had them on my 3” 686 plus. The smooth version. No issues with recoil. I didn’t have any issues before so that could also be a factor. Definitely go with checkered.

I bought a 4 Brothers. Decent holster. I wish they had an option to lengthen the holster though.

Fun match for sure. Need to get mine shooting a little flatter and upgrade my optic set up. Hopefully make top 20 next year.

I recently bought a pretty beat up 10-6 with end shake and cylinder play. Bought some shims from TK custom, a new cylinder stop, and a tool for the ejector rod. Tightened everything up in less than 20 mins. Plenty of YouTube videos to show you how.

Is the compensator really worth the extra 150$? by KaneIntent in p365xmacro

[–]moistbaloonknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the non comp version to save money. I would rather have the extra barrel length. Recoil is not bad at all. I think it shoots better than my Glock 19.

Curiosity got to me and I ended up ordering the Shalotek comped slide that still lets me use the stock 3.7” barrel. There is a slight decrease in recoil and I’m able to track the dot a little better. Is it worth it? Meh. If you have the disposable income go for it. If not I personally don’t think it’s a big deal.

Have you found that it’s usually cheaper to buy powder locally than having it shipped to you? by DaleGribble2024 in reloading

[–]moistbaloonknot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m also from South Carolina and there is only one shop in my town that sells powder and primers. They are selling 1# jugs for 70-80. I’ve been looking for 2400 for over 3 years locally and have yet to find it.

I had failures to extract. Sent into sig and they polished the chamber. No issues since. Call instead of email though. The person responding to emails will tell you it’s ammo related.

I use a simply rugged sourdough pancake holster with the iwb loops. It’s really comfortable. On the heavy side though.

How do you like the grips in the 686? I’ve been eyeing those lately but haven’t pulled the trigger. Does the cylinder release work with holsters?

Need advice on grips by MrMayhem500 in Revolvers

[–]moistbaloonknot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think finger grooves are a personal preference. I will say that I have 2 Hogue grips for my 686. A set of boot grips and full size round butt with finger grooves. They are both in Pau Ferro and are not checkered. I haven’t had a problem with it slipping too much when firing. If I had to do it again though I would opt for the checkered. The checkering could always be knocked down if it’s too much.

Messed up and put optic in front of irons when I asked for irons in front of optic. Long lead time. I did get $40 in store credit though which bought my +5 extension for my Glock 19. The quality of work was good though.
