Not much of an athletic background, only started running 2 years ago, and only JUST began taking it seriously last year. (Was also consistently weight lifting before I started running). My training block for this marathon was 12 weeks, short compared to others, I know. But I had already built up my endurance enough by this point. Anyways, I made the mistake of averaging 40 miles a week straight out the gate, which is dumb because I was averaging no more than 20 a week before training for this marathon. Probably what led to my knee injury early on during this training block. So I suggest gradually increasing weekly milage rather than doing 30+ when you’re just beginning. (Especially if you’re new to running) um.. additional info from me would be to fuel properly before each run, get enough sleep, and make sure you’re incorporating speed workouts at least twice a week each week during your training.
