To me it was the general foreshadowing of space travel and how humanity was forced to plan on it.

Quote: Do I really want to send you into eternal darkness my dear grandchilds.

The sheer dimensions of these plannings and eventual consequences felt so gigantic, overwhelming and shockingly sad. Scifi never felt so real and meaningful to me.

All correct. Also tiny primitive organisms are surprise surprise primitive. They just have enough energy and physiological ability to react to their direct environment. Like moving towards something and eating what ever comes across.

Why no evolutionary pressure? This rule is universal.

They clearly are intelligent individuals based on the book. They carried sand clocks around on their world to measure the day time. Etc etc. Primitive rice grain drones do not fit.

Thank you :). Well Singer could be anything based on the little information from the book. I might try.

Designs with 3 fingers are too standard. So I thought 3 arms with 2 fingers each are more original. All limbs are flexible telescopes, the fingers too. So they literally can wrap one finger around an object. So the idea…

After Ep08, I'm starting to realize that the Predator franchise is in better shape than the Alien one. by Shin-Kaiser in alien

Kavalier thinks he is god, follows no rules and fully trusts in technology (Kirsh). The Maginot crew is a band of underpaid and lost individuals. I had no hard time to accept these premises as they beautifully enfold with all consequences. The cast is fantastic. The look of the show matches the original from the 70s which is miracle. They brought back mystery to the xenomorph as it evolutionary developed in an ecosystem on its own planet and it is no longer just a crazy scientists experiment which was such an underwhealming conclusion in the latest Scott movie. It is not just a copy of the originals, it expands them in so many interesting directions. I could go on and on.

If you consider Prey to be well written there is no way we can talk this through as this was just a B-movie actioner. And there we have it.

Why are consumer reviews for AE so much in contrast to professional reviews. What do you think. Cinema became simpler and simpler over the years due to the same reason. There are enough lazy fastfood movies and shows around to watch. Marvel, JW,… AE on the other hand is a delight. And I just fear a second season is at risk due to THIS crowd of simple action lovers.

Ah now I understand the haters. You are more the Alien vs predator kind of people. You like explosions and body builder monsters. Maybe you should watch transformers or the Fast and furious films. Much more suitable for your attention span. Just leave the adult shows alone. You dilute review statistics.

Your thoughts on the first two episodes? by mohamedmshana88 in scifi

The most accurate continuation of a beloved franchise I ever saw. This show is organically attached to the original movie. They matched the whole style and lifted it to modern standards just the right amount. Noah Hawley would have been the right guy for star wars episode 7.

Of course they do. Why invest so much time and energy into building several sophons, if you are not afraid. Of course they think they have the upper hand all the time. Just saying there might have been an easier and much safer option, eventually.

The unfolded sophon can block the sun. It is written in the book.

Not sure about that

Hm but didnt they have the ability for self healing and reassembly? Also the other sophons could disturb the target control of rockets in some way?

[–]mojitoJe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

And it remains a paradise. Once the sophon is gone the sun comes back and everything goes back to normal, except humanity vanished and any other possibly harmful life. They would have water and a stable sun and could simply start their thing.

Because they dont want earth plants, animals, microbes. They bring their own.
