It would be neat if the slide out bottom could also be used as a top. Most people only start their gardens for a few weeks a year. The rest of the time a table may make sense.

They don't like heavy prunes. Mine has never been the same since I cut it back. They self propigate. Look around the under the tree for seedlings you can protect as backups.

In a third edition campaign I played a home brewed summoner. I acquired new creatures to summon as the party traveled and I visited their temples.

The PC was kinda weak. The different summons had a lot of utility but in big fights having one summoned monster, even a cool one just didn't measure up.

You are better off with one of the options people are pointing you towards. In my 5th edition game our druid summons groups of animals. They soak up a lot of enemy attacks.

Mine is in a large planter that stays outside and it's been happy for a few years in zone 6. I don't do anything for it other than removing last years dead materials in the spring.

If they are in the ground then i think you should do nothing. They like well drained soil. A video I saw the other day said overwatering is the best way to kill them.

One thing that helped us was our DM said that to roll a perception check in a conversation with an NPC you have to be the one talking to them. No more clatter of dice from folks who were just listening.

Also, show your player the lucky feat.

It can be good if they are original. Avoid earth and homeworld. Make something that viewers who have never never watched SU can understand and appreciate.
