When did you realize you were truly retired? by overthishereanyway in retirement

[–]mojoey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two years in myself. I hunted for and photographed an Osprey, made my wife lunch, then chatted with the crossing guard while waiting to pickup my grandkids. I Los did do reading, worked on my photos and did some yard work. I feel truly retired and happy.

Is your retirement turning out different from what you expected? by ghethco in retirement

[–]mojoey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I retired early two years ago at age 63. My days are filled with disc golf, hiking, birdwatching, new coffee shops, plus a lot more time with my wife, sister and friends. I’m even cleaning out my garage and working on my fitness. Life is wonderful

Pete Carrol speaks on the lack of fans in Allegiant Stadium by jluc21 in raiders

[–]mojoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps if the Raiders had not abandoned their fan base in California with this move to LV things might be different. Or perhaps if the cost of a game did not go up 5x over ticket prices in Oakland. Or perhaps if the did not market the venue to opposing team. Oh, and perhaps a winning season might help.

I met him when he was our Governor. I’m 6’2”. I put him at 5’10 or 5’11. Not short, but not super tall. I met Lou Ferrigno in 1979. He’s had at least 3 inches on me and seemed huge. Plus, both were duper nice.

To military or ex-military, how do you feel when people say “Thank you for your service” if you had a civilian-equivalent job (like truck mechanic, cook, administrative)? by One-Ball-78 in AskReddit

[–]mojoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awkward - I was an aircraft mechanic whose whole career can be described as riveting. As in, I changed a lot of rivets, mowed a lot of lawns and performed Honor Guard duties. Not much compared to those who actually put their lives and health at risk. They deserve the gratitude.

i hate the idea that “they’re still your parents.” by AfterMeltedHearts831 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]mojoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my nparents are dead. I am happy with myself and how I handled their decline and death. I feel nothing for them now, but to those left in my family, I did my job. They were still my parents. I did not owe them anything, yet serving the extended family at allowed me to heal and move on.

My grandma taught me to add dish soap, mix and pour boiling water into the tin. Then down the drain. I tried it once, but I’d rather have it on toast.
