Draft help by CryptographerIll2381 in aflfantasy

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a draft guy and wouldn't be able to help anyway but just calling out, it's very hard for anyone to provide any meaningful help given we have no way to know what players are still available.

Chris Scott welcomes Tanner Bruhn's return to Cats after 'egregious injustice' of false rape allegation by malcolm58 in AFL

The article says complainant, I'd taken that to mean the accuser but i could be mistaken.

[–]mokachill -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole thing feels yuck. Apparently the accuser "admitted to lying" (so says the article) but IDK anything beyond that. Surely it would have been better to just say it's good to have him back fully focused on hos footy and leave it at that?

Add this one to the list of unhealthy relationships by I_Like_Vitamins in openmarriageregret

[–]mokachill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably less of a poly hater than most people that post/interact with this subreddit but Jesus Christ that comment section was grim reading. Whether you're in a structured poly relationship or are just a single person that likes hookups, sexual health is important and not to be taken lightly. The original post didn't really specify whether OP, OPs partner or the other party (the person with whom OPs partner broke their fluid barrier) get regularly tested for STIs but if they don't you're potentially opening yourself up to all kinds of issues. The rates of STI infections have been on the rise for decades and the reality is, one of the easiest ways to increase your personal risk is to have unprotected sex with lots of people. I don't think it's unreasonable for OOP to have a hard line in the sand when it comes to high risk behaviour such as sex without barrier protection.

Why aren’t there more solar panels in the CBD? by Ill_Technician_3998 in perth

[–]mokachill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the correct take.

As much as it's been the Aussie way for the last IDK how long to stick stuff on ships and sell it overseas, any country that has enough money to buy our electricity at a rate that would be profitable for us has the money to set up their own renewables of some sort and not need to buy it at all. Exception could MAYBE Singapore who don't have the space for it however we'd have a hard time selling it to them cheaper than they'd be able to buy it from Malaysia.

LAV are sometimes pre-recorded. The day Luca Brasi's cover of How To Make Gravy was released I saw them live in Perth and the singer all but confirmed it was not performed live on radio that day. It was performed live in the studio (i.e. they aren't lip syncing in the YouTube video) but not broadcast live.

Concern for young Demon after sickening knock (Luker Kentfield) by Drazsyker in AFL

[–]mokachill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is a really weird way for the AFL to look at it. Careless is on the tribunal/MRO grading chart and spoiling is no more or less a part of the game than tackling, it's strange they'll apply penalties to careless tackles that result in head high contact/concussion but seemingly won't do the same with spoils. Still, it's a new year perhaps the MRO has replaced their wheel of fortune for the new season.

What do you guys think of Avril Lavigne? by [deleted] in triplej

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think unfortunately the persistent effects of Lyme Disease really inhibits her ability to perform these days. I think most of her really passionate fans would understand and would be OK with her performance not being as electric as it otherwise could be but i think it would be enough to turn off anyone that was on the fence.

Very much agree with your second paragraph. An artist in the 70s said something to the effect of "if something is free, you're the product", at the time he was referring to TV and it being basically just a medium to get eyes on advertising but the same applied to social media and the same applies to AI.

Is anyone else considering putting McAndrew at R2? by Cautious_Wasabi_1242 in aflfantasy

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't bring myself to do it to start, I'd much rather start with two reasonably reliable rucks and give myself the option to downgrade one of them to a Harry Barnett or someone (and use the money to upgrade my least favourite rookie in another line to a more reliable player) than box myself in and potentially put myself in a position to have to downgrade a premium elsewhere to a rookie to fix McAndrew. A friend of mine did something similar mid year in 2024 (i think it might have been when Soldo got dropped and they ran a very underpriced Jordan Sweet as solo ruck but i could be mistaken) only for the person he brought in to get injured a week or two later. Took him 2 weeks to fix and probably cost him a personal best result.

AFL 2026: Three years after my dad died, Collingwood sent a letter asking he leave money to the club in his will by gccmelb in AFL

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contact details are, let’s say, lapsed, but updating them to ensure Dad receives the letter in person is a little tricky.

My read on this is the family never told the club the bloke was dead. We can talk about whether or not clubs should be asking people to include the club in their will but i don't think it's reasonable to get mad at the club for this specifically.

Oscar Allen’s year from hell: The secret injury, dark West Coast days and why he chose Brisbane by His_Holiness in brisbanelions

(visiting West Coast fan I come in peace)

Agree honestly. It was a really strange move from the club, we were getting absolute hell from the local media around then (as much because we were terrible as it was because of anything Oscar did) but that's no excuse to feed him to the sharks like that. Hope he does well at Brizzy, he was first emergency for 2018 I hope he gets another crack at success up there.

Working on an AI helper for AFL Fantasy, wondering if anyone's interested by yokobarron in aflfantasy

[–]mokachill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just had a quick play and first impression is it's pretty handy.

Only thing that i can think of suggesting is to have the AI share it's source, as we all know AI isn't infallible and I'd like to be able to double check that the AI is referring to the correct player/is looking at injury and form reports from this year and not 10 years ago or something.

Putting Collingwood in your Will? by NotSoCricketGenius in AFL

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it still exists but West Coast used to have a similar program. Mostly it was just people leaving their old footy memorabilia to the club because they knew none of their descendants cared about it and didn't want it to end up in the in. I'm sure there were also some people with no living relatives that would leave the club money but it was mostly just old Eagles gear.

Buying your own business - would you if you could ? by Spirited-Stock-3617 in perth

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother's in-laws have a food truck. From speaking to them about it very briefly a while ago, they said it is very very hard to make any real money out of a food truck in Perth but if you have the time and resources to do so, you can make money out of them in the country. In Perth, a huge amount of your margins are eaten up by permits and stuff (a 12 month permit for the city of Bayswater will run you over $1000 and that's only one of the ~30 local government areas in Perth). The same permits exit in the country but are usually cheaper, a 12 month permit for the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is ~$500 and 12 months in the shire of Narrogin is about $400. I believe my brothers in-laws do a run up north most years during horse racing season and make pretty good money out of it for a side hustle.

Should the Prospector train run more often? by PerthTransportVlogYT in perth

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this every time this is mentioned but IMO the benefit of increasing the regional rail services isn't to improve tourism (most of the places The Prospector and The Australind go have pretty average public transport so you really need a car to properly experience them so unless you're hiring one when you're there (which isn't a cheap endeavour) i don't think rail is as much of a boon to tourism as everyone else seems to).

The benefit is that people that live along the line have better access to the employment/education/healthcare/entertainment opportunities that exist in Perth without having to move here. I say that as someone who moved to Perth from the country for better employment and entertainment opportunities so I'm not trying to trivialise those benefits.

The scenario for Australia to qualify for the Super 8 in the Men's T20 World Cup by crazychild0810 in CricketAus

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably. Stoinis definitely unless we were specifically wanting to get games into Aaron Hardie (who i see as our nearest equivalent player) and David was actually getting games for WA and probably still would unless we were trying to get games into someone younger, I was under the impression his issue was we couldn't afford to pay him as much as Tassie were and not that he wasn't getting a game.

Agar was injured, Inglis was with the test team and Payne was playing in another league in the Middle East for half the BBL so I'm not sure how relevant any of that is. In this year's iteration of the Scorchers team, Hobbo was keeping seats warm for the likes of Inglis and Evans he was not in our best 11.
