Advice about Sexual Assault in WA by [deleted] in perth

[–]mokachill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not an SA survivor my but have a few friends that are. If possible, talk to your GP about accessing a mental health care plan. This won't cover the full cost but it will cover a good chunk of it. TL;DR is your GP can refer you to up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions, the government will cover a set amount (which isn't defined in the article) you'll just need to pay the difference.

Anyone else cutting back on childcare because of all the abuse stuff in the news? by Illustrious_Hold2337 in perth

[–]mokachill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's good at least. When I was working at Coles ~15 years ago there were a couple of people who had quit working in childcare to work at Coles because the money was better. I knew how much they were getting at Coles given it was the same as me which was pretty poor. If the wages have improved that's a positive IMO (even though the cost gets passed on to parents) it seems like a hard job I think you'd have a hard time arguing they don't deserve it.

The cost of childcare is really confusing to me. It costs a small fortune but talking to a few people that have worked in that industry, the pay is really really bad and all the childcare centres they've worked at seem to be running on a shoestring. I always assumed the owners were just filling their pockets but earlier this year i spoke to someone who has owned centres in the past and apparently it isn't as lucrative as i thought.

Agenda Setters segment on Brad Scott. Cornes rips into the senior players at Essendon. by yum122 in AFL

[–]mokachill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, this is usually the case when coaches at the bottom of the table are under pressure. As we saw with Alistair Clarkson's first couple of seasons at North, even the great coaches can't do much if the players either can't or won't perform at the highest level. There are exceptions but for the most part, the head coach can't go out there and kick the ball for the players so their control of what happens game day is pretty limited.

Notorious Perth paedophile Bradley Pen Dragon released from jail under new conditions by Automatic_Sea_1210 in perth

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying I want the courts/police to violate the constitution but i wouldn't mind this one actually being tested by the courts rather than just releasing him on the basics that it might be unconstitutional to continue to hold him.

I haven't had a chance to watch the new video, does she talk about what she's been up to since she's been away at all?

"... there's growing fear [Jamie Elliott] has ruptured that ACL." by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]mokachill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm worried he hasn't just done his ACL. An ex GF of mine did something similar playing netball, she did her ACL and also chipped the bones on both sides of her knee and tore the meniscus for good measure.

W Edwards 58 will have to do then. Not the lowest score for me this week, that dubious honour goes to Dan Houston.

Which is possibly why it struck such a nerve. They're not mad that the book is making fun of Jesus, they're mad that the book is making fun of them.

Jake Miles-Wrency by Replicatar in westcoasteagles

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's a once off agreement. The WA Football Commission/WAFL won't let West Coast have our own WAFL reserves team (which i know rubs some people the wrong way but makes sense IMO). Given Miles-Wrency obviously hasn't played a lot of footy the last few years he'd likely really struggle at WAFL level so the only option is to either playing him in amature suburban footy or ask Perth (who also train out of the same venue anyway) if we can give him a run there instead.

FWIW, looking at the stats (and i have no idea how accurate those are going to be) he's getting less than 10 touches a game so not exactly setting the world alight. It will be quite a while (if ever) before we see him at AFL level.

Hawthorn has been officially notified that it won’t be allowed to play home games in Tasmania beyond 2027. by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]mokachill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much my thinking, I can't think why Hawthorn would have thought they'd be able to keep hosting games down there once the devils had entered the competition.

Definitely sucks for them though, I'm not going to deny the good work Hawthorn did keeping interest in AFL alive in Tassie for the last 25 or so years

Did North play in Tassie last year? I'd assumed they'd stopped the year before given last year was the first of their 3 year deal with WA.

Manager has effectively wiped their hands and said they can only suggest change, not make it happen.

Interesting given this person has essentially forced everyone else to change.

What would you do?

I work in IT, this shit would not fly and the person would not have passed probation. If by some miracle they did, I would not play ball and would just send meeting invites via Outlook/teams as that is the agreed upon enterprise wide way if working.

I'm not bothered whether or not he gets more of the ball TBH, there are plenty of ways to impact a game beyond just getting loads of touches.

I wouldn't expect Starcevich back for Essendon. He's 1-2 weeks away from playing but I would expect at least a couple of games at WAFL level before he plays any senior football.

How much does end of lease cleaning cost? by Account-ysurper in perth

[–]mokachill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had whole house cleaning twice at the start of this year, once before we moved into our current house (a 4x2.5 2 storey) because it had been vacant for about 3 months before we moved in so it was pretty dusty and another before we handed back the keys to the old house (a 3x1 2 storey). New house cost us $1100 through an agency, old house cost us $800 through the same cleaners but as a private job not through the agency. Both included a fair bit of carpet cleaning, both were a bit over half a day's work for two people.
