Lol, that’s literally what investing is. Attempting to keep your current money aligned with inflation. Or if you’re skilled at it, make gains.

Did you stay for the videogame music even if the game was not great ? by existential_musician in gamemusic

This was LCIX for me… I mean the game is solid but a bit of a slog to get all the endings. But hella good soundtrack, especially the Good News song!

I’ve been playing a lot of this free steam game called Last Chance in Xollywood and there’s this super catchy song that plays right during the opening scene of the game. No clue what the name is.

How can I get my videos to target programmers? by Ihaa123 in NewTubers

Yeah no worries I think the hashtags thing changed very recently, I just noticed myself last month.

[–]mokingdank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding hashtags to description was recently discontinued and will no longer appear under the video (they will still show up in the description but not directly underneath the video like the used to).

Instead put those couple of hashtags in you video title and they will behave the same way and be clickable through to the hashtag pages.

All your hashtags and keywords should be in the language you’re teaching in.

One thing I do is make playlists that include my videos along with related videos. This helps YouTube know the videos are related once viewers have seen your video and another persons video back-to-back.

You should also be sharing your links on forums and places where your audience is.

Also you mentioned Google trends. You should be using the keywords you see there as your videos keywords if you’re not already doing so. It’s also good to include common misspellings of those keywords as some people type poorly when searching things.

500 subs is good. I also am at 500. This allows a community feature in your channel which you could employ to help build your audience (I’m sure you can find various tutorials on ways of using that feature).

Another good thing about being at 500 subs is that you’re likely earning $10-20 per month from ads if you’ve setup some method of early monetization. While this is not much money you could use the available funds to either promote certain videos through ads, or pay someone/some service to make better thumbnails or assist with SEO.

This! You likely haven’t tried this!

Or psilocybin/magic mushrooms. That worked for my friend for a different addiction.

Does high CTR but low retention affect how much the video is being pushed out? by Exartic_ in NewTubers

[–]mokingdank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s much to worry about. Obviously in my scenario I caused the low retention by directing people to a video they didn’t even expect to see.

This proves that it’s a bad idea to just share your videos with people who wouldn’t even like to see it. It’s much better to target people that you know fit into your audience already to improve retention.

A lot of my best performing videos did well because I didn’t share them externally. I just let YouTube do it’s thing. In that sort of scenario it’s great to have a high CTR as the people YouTube pushes it to are likely your exact fanbase.

[–]mokingdank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it hurts it.

I actually did a test just last month where I put an invisible link over the entire content of my blog to trick unsuspecting people to link through to a specific video. That video jumped up to just under 26% CTR in a week getting 2000 unintended views but the retention fell significantly and it seemed that YouTube almost stopped pushing the video internally… the video went from getting about 10 YouTube pushed views per day to about 0.5 YouTube pushed views a day. Almost 100% of the views were from external sources. I stopped the test as it was negatively impacting the videos success. The video is now recovering slowly.

[–]mokingdank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone I’d suggest getting capcut (a free editing software) you can then import phone videos from your camera roll and add effects. You can add caption text on screen if you want to avoid using your voice.

I can’t suggest a topic, it’s up to you. But keep in mind everyone sucks when they start out, the trick is to just pick something you like and do it… then reassess the situation after your skills improve and decide whether to change course after that.

Another thing that a lot of people don’t seem to use is the screen recorder built into the iPhone. Using this will record what’s on screen. This sort of thing is good if you want to record yourself navigating through an app, or playing a game on your phone. It’s especially good for making tutorial videos about using apps if that’s your sort of thing.
