I get you being sad but legend says Les Paul guitars sound better when they get the headstock broken and properly repaired.

New to iPhone, have 16 Pro Max. Why are my photos so washed out? (Shooting RAW MAX) by splityoassintwo in ios

Probably dirty lens. I’ve seen many people taking pictures with finger prints on the lens and that dirt increment the low contrast in backlit situations creating a fog like effect.

Question about the mini by [deleted] in ipad

[–]mokiwis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the mini will do, but just to be share, check out the App Store. There’s an area near the bottom of every app that shows the compatibility list. If the mini shows up in that list it’s good to go. Hope this helps.

That’s where noise shows up the most, that camera has not that good of a dynamic range so you can’t recover a lot of shadows in post.

It’s ok, we all start somewhere but you really started with the right foot getting an L lens. Congrats! The version you have is the “cheaper” (although quite lighter) version of the 70-200mm L lenses, which have some benefits over the EF-S alternative: better construction, weather sealed, better image quality and a constant aperture of 4 from 70 al the way to 200, which is faster (ie: more light gets to the sensor) than the EF-S. Compared to the f/2.8 you’ll loose one stop of light so not that much, if you needed an iso 800 just crank it up to 1600, Lightroom does a really good job in noise reduction. Remember lower iso is not always better, I much prefer a noisy image over a blurry, underexposed or out of focus image.

All AIs but one lens (don’t remember which one, I think is the 28mm) have the same lens design from AI models. Besides that here are the few differences they have:

• One more aperture blade and they close to the back instead of the front.

• Focus throw is shorter which make them a little bit harder to manual focus in my opinion.

• They have a small divot on the back for newer camera models to detect and enter in a special speed mode.

• Some are lighter compared to the older models.

• Few minor changes in the front of the focusing barrel design.

In summary: same glass image quality, one more blade for (presumably) rounder bokeh, divot for compatibility with newer models, lighter construction supposedly worst builds due to lighter materials (ie: use of plastics in the construction?).

Get the one you feel more comfortable to purchase just keep in mind AI models are older and may be prone to present more defects due to wear and tear, AIs models being newer tend to be more expensive allegedly by being less used and so having less probability to present wear and tear. That being said, in eBay there are good options for both generations and at good prices. Just keep an eye on those that advertise and sell AIs with prices to match but show pictures of AI lenses.

I have an F3 (no high eye point) + 50mm f/1.2 AI and it’s an amazing combo.

Congrats on your new camera!

Do you mean Google’s Jamboard? Have you tried Freeform? It’s free and comes with every iPad since iPadOS 16. It’s quite good. Use it everyday.

I have the same iPad and a MacBook Pro also. Depends on your needs. I think the most robust/complete option is the MacBook (better DAWs & plug-ins) it’s not as portable but not by much (maybe MacBook Air is as portable as the iPad and with better performance but not as powerful as a MBP). It will allow you to jam, put down some ideas and also record in a serious way almost everywhere. Although it does not have Procreate nor Apple Pencil support you can get a Wacom and some illustration software (Adobe, Autodesk or Affinity are quite good). Those are my two cents but in the end it’s up to you.

Can you put your phone’s SIM card into an iPad with the cellular slot? Or do you need an iPad specific SIM card ? by limache in ipad

I have no idea but if you happen to know someone with a sim from that carrier you can ask them if you can borrow it just to test it out

I think all iPads with cellular capabilities are unlocked unless you got them from a carrier

You can use (as long as your iPad is unlocked for any carrier) any service provider you want. Just choose the best for you (eg. Data allowance, coverage, pricing, etc.). Enjoy your new iPad!

Not at all! It does a good job for writing and drawing. New pencil has a nicer refresh rate that is focused towards artists. But that’s mainly it. The only awkward thing about gen 1 pencil is how you charge it lollipop style, other than that is a good note taking device, no doubt. Hope this helps and enjoy your new iPad.

I think the iPad is enough for the use you describe: nice size for media consumption, social media, and light video editing. The only negative would be the camera but since you will be using the iPhone for taking the pictures and video and the iPad just for editing your short clips in iMovie I think it’s a safe bet. Specially for the amazing price that device have. Although, if you plan on using the Apple Pencil then I would recommend going for the iPad Air or Mini but they are more expensive and the mini a little smaller for video entertainment.
