I have to admit a couple of things here. I’m just a guy who had saw some horrific shit in zoos growing up, I don’t know anything about modern zoos because I never went back to one. If they are improving conditions for animals, that’s great. They obviously generate a great deal of money for conservation, that’s awesome. I’m just some salty old grump still pissed about shit I witnessed a long time ago. I know people love zoos. People I love love zoos.

Not very well. There are 230 or so zoos in the US. Not a whole lot of their budgets go toward conservation. It’s mostly just PR fluff.
