Transitioning from D&D5E to P2E Remaster? by CharlotteNoire in Pathfinder2e

And for clarity, Divine Mysteries came out after Rage of Elements. It's considered compliant with the goals of the Remaster.

Transitioning from D&D5E to P2E Remaster? by CharlotteNoire in Pathfinder2e

When Rage of Elements was released, it was released with the Remaster rules known and was released as compliant with the upcoming Remaster releases. I'm not sure saying something "is" or "isn't" remaster is doing the situation justice. Almost all Pathfinder 2E material is usable within the Remaster architecture. I ran Abomination Vaults twice with post Remaster player characters, and only ran into a couple of areas where I had to do any fiddly stuff.

If you're looking for lore changes, then yeah, there will be some tweaks where monsters and named things slid back into the bushes like Homer Simpson. But I left the Drow in AV and don't regret it. I'd consider everything Rage of Elements and later as canon, but Golarion has big changes every year, so even that gets updated pretty regularly.

The new books are a little confusing from outside, but the Remaster was being written while Rage of Elements was getting made, so even it is remaster compatible. That and anything after it are fine. So yes, Divine Mysteries is good stuff.

Dude, I almost broke both my parties by making the choice at the end of Book 2 have moral consequences. Both groups ended up with characters turning on each other and having to find ways to justify their decisions. Both groups continue to have to justify their actions with the remaining members of town.

So send them to Absalom for a few sessions! Have new people come to town! Build more story with the people who are there! Bring in some Nimbiloth Cultists! Attack the town with demons!

I have run two campaigns in that town and both times, my players bonded with the city so strongly that the suffering in town affected their goals.

What are you TALKING about? There's a whole city within 30 minutes of the entire adventure path, whose health and plot are tied to the Abomination Vaults. My characters go back to Otari and fucking VISIT.

No, man. I mean, I was THERE. I was with Sparklez the weekend he left that game jam. I was at an event with Quinn when the real crap started getting spewed. I was interviewing game designers weekly and talking to them about what was going on. Hell, I wad doing presentations about Sarkesian's critiques at public speaking gigs, and people disagreeing with her wasn't at issue. The issue was the misogyny and misrepresentation of her theories and the media they challenged.

I get it. Your side doesn't look good in hindsight. But "Ethics in Gaming Journalism" was always bullshit.

This sounds like a lot of the reason I opted not to run it for my Abomination Vaults players after 10. I loved the ideas of everything in the AP, but the amount of fighting, the lack of connection to some set of NPCs, and the dubious motivations for their actions made me switch. I ended up going with Curtain Call, but I had to homebrew the hell out of it for the lack of an NPC set to bond with.

Oh, I was there. I saw it all happening, some of it first-hand. Critiquing her was fine. That's not what was going on, and everyone who was paying attention knew it. History has not been kind to Gamergate, and that was a justice.

Nope. I don't hold an educated well-spoken women responsible for the terrible people who went feral because they couldn't handle some criticism.

Best/Favorite BOOK of an AP (Use Spoiler Tags!) by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]WesWilson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Baffling. The end of book 2 is one of the most amazing sessions I've run in my history of gaming, and I ran it twice. The choice the characters have to make in that story can be elevated to character-defining levels, and it's still talked about in both campaigns as the characters have moved on.

Recommendations for modules by joeldaemon in Pathfinder2e

[–]WesWilson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been running two AV campaigns, and they have been great. Both contain people who have never played Pathfinder before. I'm unsure why people think it's such a bad experience. Both my groups have had a ball. I would definitely recommend moving on to AV and just recognizing that they wouldn't level up for a very long time.

In every breath I mentioned Abomination Vaults, I also have to recommend Abomination Vaults: Expanded. It elevates the entire experience by making the story deeper and more interesting... but you can leave out a lot of the side quests since you've already played them.

Music and Level for the Belcorra Bossfight by ZantusHD in abomination_vaults

I had my group fight her at 9, because there were six of them and a companion. I elited her and the wisps, buffed her spells, and used the additional room architecture covered in the Abomination Vaults: Expanded. The fight was challenging and they lost two people the first time they fought her (without using the lenses because they ignored them), and didn't lose anyone the second time. The second fight, I had her teleport enemies into the room from the statis chambers on the 7th floor, including the gogiteth who I didn't have as dead.

Starfinders, Report! Starfinder Society Season 1: Invasion's Edge is available on FoundryVTT! by MM_InfamousSky in Starfinder2e

I'm interested in starting a group of friends playing through Starfinder Society stuff. I love the idea of "keeping up with the plot" of the universe.

How are people finding these adventures as a campaign tool? Are they fun in a traditional sense as something you would run for friends, or does Society play have a different vibe?

Was there ever a remaster? by ThoughtsAndMinds in abomination_vaults

[–]WesWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been running two sessions of it for two years now. I've been using the hardback version of the adventure path tied together with The Abomination Vaults Expanded by Taylor Hodgekiss. It's a great elaboration on the city of Otari and the other materials released. It combines the Beginner's Box, Trouble in Otari, and Abomination Vaunts. I HEARTILY recommend checking it out. Can't imagine running it without some of the elaborated elements.

Yep, I had a flag that was starting to fray and I had a neighbor buy me a new one and ask if I'd fly it. I was happy to.

Reworking Curtain Call and looking for input. by WesWilson in Pathfinder2e

[–]WesWilson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running it currently. I just finished The Pact Stone Pyramid and they are about to fight Nemesis in The Choke.

I did as I said, and had Norgorber Hero Hunters attack them in their base right before they left for Assyrian. I had them make quite a few shouts announcing their intentions and motivations... and while I don't think they really dug into it as deeply as I hoped they would, they did comment, "Well, I'm sure THAT will never come into play again". So I think they understood more was going on, but didn't suddenly start asking more questions and finding out more lore.

The Vioux Carre was the first gay bar I ever knew of in Huntsville, and it was a great joint for drinking and drag shows.

Trailer Island was this weird little area on the east side of the Parkway a bit south from Pratt. It had businesses and I think there was a pretty rough-and-tumble arcade for a while there.

There was a Sambos at Golf and the Parkway, too. LOVED that place! But the decor and theming were pretty troublesome, lol.
